Kellen Haverback
Kellen Haverback
About Kellen
Expert Analysis
Rob Howe | Prep Redzone Scout
Haverback threw 27 touchdowns in leading Mount Vernon to the state semifinals last season. The Drake commitment has picked up where he left off as a senior in 2025. An in-person scouting opportunity in Week 3 of the campaign had him facing a stingy Solon defense. Haverback completed 23 of 37 throws for 244 yards and a touchdown without any interceptions. He’s a big, physical signal caller that can really spin it. Haverback is fundamentally sound at the position with a smooth operation and quick release. He tosses a catchable ball, leads receivers and gets through his progressions in a timely fashion. That he’s successful already with plenty of room for growth as a player should give Bulldog fans reason for excitement for what’s to come.

The only quarterback to return in 3A that passed for over 2,000 yards last season,

threw for 2,285 total yards and 27 touchdowns in 2024 for Mount Vernon.
The main trait that stands out with Haverback is his touch on deep throws. The 6’2″, 190-pound gunslinger possesses not only the arm strength to get the ball downfield, but to put it in the breadbasket of his target. He can also rip it into tight windows for his receivers.
An athlete that plays four sports for the Mustangs, it’s easy to tell that Haverback has a wide array of experience in other sports, given his ability to play off-schedule, contort his body to make tough throws and take off and run with the ball if need be. Not necessarily a dual-threat QB, the Drake commit also finished with 64 carries for 121 yards and ten touchdowns last season.

Much of the focus last season was on Mount Vernon’s dominant defense, but Kellen Haverback broke through in 2024 as a confident and largely productive leader for the Mustangs’ offense. Haverback finished with 2285 passing yards, 27 touchdowns, and 14 picks, and he added 10 rushing touchdowns. Haverback is a QB that stands tall in the pocket and is impressively precise with his timing on his throws, being able to fit the ball exactly to the point of where the receiver breaks his route. Haverback has an excellent arm and is sneakily athletic, being able to scramble and serve as a scoring threat both on the air and the ground. Haverback will look to cap off his time with Mount Vernon by leading the team to the state championship after reaching the semifinals last year.
