Recruiting/Player Profile: Andrew Hunt/Mounds View (2020)

<span class="mceItemHidden">With this <span class="hiddenSpellError">Northstar</span> Football News recruiting profile, we head to Mounds View to chat with NFN prospect <strong>Andrew Hunt</strong> who plays defensive end, outside linebacker and fullback for the Mustangs. We chatted with Andrew about himself as a player, his college interest and much more.</span> <strong>Andrew Hunt, Class of 2020 (Senior)</strong> <strong>Position: </strong>Defensive End, Outside Linebacker, and Fullback <strong>High School Program: </strong>Mounds View <strong>Get to Know Andrew Hunt</strong> Hunt was a three-position player for the Mustangs on offense and defense. He is a player that is not afraid to be pushed to the next level and he told Northstar Football News that is he is "very coachable". His biggest strength is his speed to power on the edge especially as a linebacker and defensive end. <strong>Favorite Part About His Position</strong> His favorite part about the multiple positions he plays is "learning what moves to match his skill set" Hunt told NFN. Hunt said creating chaos with those moves fire up his game. <strong>College Interest</strong> Hunt currently holds two D-2 offers from Minnesota-Crookston and Minnesota-Moorhead. As far as interest, Minnesota-Moorhead, St. Cloud State, St. Thomas and Crookston all are pursuing Andrew as far as his interest. <strong>Improvements Made By Hunt</strong> The biggest things the Mustangs coaching staff had Hunt work on was a move called the "get off and chop". To get better, Andrew went to Line Of Scrimmage sessions on how to perfect the art of defensive lineman moves and went for two hours 4 times a week to get better. He also took in another sport, wrestling to learn how to clear hands more efficiently. The speed rush to chop move was very effective and got Hunt 8 sacks in six games this season, which is a phenomenal improvement. <strong>Andrew's Mentor</strong> Without hardly thinking about it, Hunt credited <strong>Vince Calistro</strong> his defensive line coach, as his biggest mentor. "He doesn't just help in football but life too and he cares about his boys in the trenches. Calistro currently is on the Mustangs staff and was before an assistant coach at Irondale. He is also a special education teacher in the Mounds View School District <strong>Biggest Things Andrew  Learned About Himself This Season</strong> Andrew said in his senior season he learned how to "control his body with football" he told NFN. He said he's never felt this way in past years, but he has full control in his movement as a player.
