This was my second time watching Rochester Adams this season, but last time, I only got to watch one quarter. Against Oxford, I was able to see Adams in a hostile environment, missing their best player. With a lot of pressure riding on this game, multiple players stepped up in the close loss. Below, I share my evaluations of five Rochester Adams players.

Farris seems to be QB1 for Adams moving forward, as Rino Watters is out for the season.

Nolan did well in his new role. Adams definitely simplified the offense with more designed handoffs and fewer option plays. When it was time for Nolan to run the ball, he did well. On his touchdown, Nolan did an amazing job selling the fake and practically walked into the endzone. In other instances, it was clear that Nolan was a reliable runner when needed. As for passing, Nolan was more accurate than I'd expect for a backup Veer QB. on the five or so pass attempts, he was getting the ball out quickly, throwing with confidence over linebackers, and he even had a great improvised scramble. I will say, there were times where Nolan looked a tad confused and one pass where he really hesitated to pull the trigger on an open man. Though that is not unexpected with a backup QB, especially one in an option offense.

Cameron was someone that Adams kept giving targets/carries to. Playing WR/slotback, Cameron was a speed-in-space option. He had a few carries on sweeps and did well with those opportunities. Cameron also had a few targets, including a critical 4th-down conversion and a fade route downfield. Adams kept doing to Cameron, and it's obvious that he's a very athletic player with the trust of his coaches. Like a lot of Adams' players, Cameron is also a starter on defense. Athletic testing numbers would tell me a lot about his potential, but my gut says Cameron will be a good D3 prospect in a year's time.

Connor had a few impressive moments at DB. Above all, Connor had one excellent PBU near the endzone, which forced Oxford to kick it. There, he was highly reactive in what looked like zone coverage, and Connor swatted the ball just as the receiver got the ball in his hands. Overall, Connor seemed very confident and smart in his coverage. His recruitment will take place this spring, and I hope to see him at several offseason camps.

With the absence of Rino, Mateo was the best running option. Mateo seemed to get an uptick in carries. Especially in short-yardage situations, he was an extremely effective option. Mateo did his best work between the tackles. I wouldn't say Mateo has elite contact balance, but it's good enough that Mateo consistently falls forward- an amazing skill for a running back. He also received some outside run opportunities. Mateo did well, but I definitely consider Mateo a between-the-tackles power back first and foremost.

Rowan is a great lineman for Adams. When it comes to run blocking, Rowan is excellent. Time after time, Adams ran it to Rowan's side, and Rowan did a great job moving bodies. He's got a powerful first step and is able to immediately win leverage, and he very rarely lets an Oxford defender dodge his block. He's a perfect lineman for this scheme! In terms of pass blocking, Rowan hasn't looked very polished in the past, but that's expected from a lineman in an option offense. I think Rowan deserves a NAIA opportunity! Way too much upside to be passed up.
