Both teams are coming off lopsided wins over MCC opponents. There is no argument that whoever walks away with this rivalry victory tonight, will eventually be named conference champs. With D1 commits on both offense and defense for each team, this will be a clash that I believe is dependent on how well they can move the ball. This of course has to result in points to win the game, so lets take a closer look on how each teams main weapons match up on O. I will give the nod next to the positions who I think has the advantage going into the game hosted at Desmet 6pm today!

QUARTERBACKS *Tied

[player_tooltip player_id='284043' first='Nick' last='McClellan'] (CBC, 2026)- 6 foot athletic quarterback who can make you pay in the air or in the ground. Really coming into his own this year with very skilled positions around him. Has gone 31/51 completions for 584 yards, 7 touchdowns and only 1 interception. Designed or when pocket gets too tight, McClellan has 21 rushes for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns.

[player_tooltip player_id='285140' first='Dillon' last='Duff'] (Desmet, 2025)- Standing at 6'2 with poise and accuracy is a senior leader with other mature players in his class that help carry the load. Kansas State commit is 34/48 in the air for 566 yards, 8 touchdowns and a pick. His QB rating is a chart topping 153.6. Duff has also carried the ball 15 times for 154 yards and 1 touchdown.

RUNNING BACKS *Desmet advantage

AJ Morris (CBC, 2025)- A shifty ball carrier with quick feet and vision. So far has carried the ball 18 times for 106 yards averaging 5.9 per touch.

AJ Johnson Jr. (CBC, 2025)- The thunder in this duo, and carries a punishing frame to grind out yards or slip out into the passing game to find first downs underneath. Johnson is responsible for 73 yards, 2 scores, on 17 opportunities.

[player_tooltip player_id='849700' first='Jayden' last='McCaster'] (Desmet, 2026)- The most complete back of the group who can make big plays whether you hand it to him or pass it to him. Jayden has accumulated 411 total yards and 3 touchdowns. That's averaging 6.3 per carry, and 19.7 per catch.

Cam Sharp (Desmet, 2027)- The youngest out the bunch with minimal opportunities being behind McCaster, but has attributed a touchdown with a nice average of 10.4 yards on 5 carries.

RECEIVERS *Tied

[player_tooltip player_id='1124924' first='Brycen' last='Dorsey'] (CBC, 2025)- 6 footer who runs smooth routes and knows how to get open. Right now has 10 catches for 157 yards, 2 touchdowns for a 15.7 yard average per reception.

[player_tooltip player_id='179185' first='Corey' last='Simms'] (CBC, 2025)- USC commit comes as advertised. Big play maker that creates separation and physicality in his 6'4 muscular frame. Simms is responsible for 4 scores, 186 yards on 7 catches. His average is 26.6!

[player_tooltip player_id='1124869' first='Nathan' last='Hatcher'] (Desmet, 2025)- Swiss Army knife that can get it down no matter where the ball is thrown. All-District threat will multiple offers that is getting 18 yards per reception. Totalling 180 yards with a pair of touchdowns so far.

[player_tooltip player_id='374501' first='Liam' last='Russo'] (Desmet, 2025)- Big receiving Tight End threat who can do it all off the line or creating lanes for runners. Standing at 6'6, this Northern Illinois commit has 8 catches for 139 yards and 3 touchdowns. That comes out to 17.4 every time he's targeted.

CBC also has receiving options in two players out of the 2026 class who both have 3 touchdowns from C. Rivers and V. Williams. Desmet prides themselves on a big offensive line and another big body to find down field in Z. Schellenger. He has a score and a 19.2 average. Looks like whoever runs the ball more effectively tonight gets the overall advantage. Although, even being an offensive minded coach, DEFENSE wins championships. History does not lie. Run game + Defense = success.

Both teams are coming off lopsided wins over MCC opponents. There is no argument that whoever walks away with this rivalry victory tonight, will eventually be named conference champs.
