Playmakers In The District of Doom

District 11-6A, known as the "District of Doom," is one of the most competitive and talent-rich districts in Texas. It features some of the state's top high school football prospects, with many players being highly recruited by major college programs. The district's reputation stems from its exceptional teams and standout individual players, making it a showcase for playmakers and difference makers on both sides of the ball. The players on this list will be key to their teams success this season.    Riden Jr. is a standout running back for DeSoto High School. He is the total package of speed, elusiveness, elite body control, and power, making him a constant home run threat. Last season, he ran for over 1,000 yards and scored 12 touchdowns, playing a key role in DeSoto's second straight state title. A Texas A&M commit, Riden Jr is expected to make an immediate impact at the college level, and his dynamic playmaking abilities are a significant reason for DeSoto's continued success.     Turner is a big-time playmaker who plays with a physical presence and this enables him to overpower defensive backs at the line of scrimmage. He has strong, reliable hands, runs crisp routes and has the ability to make big catches in traffic. In his sophomore season, Turner recorded 34 catches for 683 yards and 11 touchdowns, establishing himself as one of the top returning playmakers in the District of Doom. He has offers from the likes of Houston, Baylor, Ole Miss, Michigan and Wisconsin.     DeSoto edge rusher [player_tooltip player_id='691118' first='Keylan' last='Abrams'] is a defensive force with a long, lean frame, explosive get off, and great closing speed to the ball carrier. Known for his pass-rushing prowess and stout run defense, Abrams is one of the top returning defenders in the District of Doom. In his junior season, he recorded 87 tackles and 23.5 sacks, showcasing his productivity. Abrams is committed to TCU.     [player_tooltip player_id='693110' first='Carter' last='Jones'] is the new kid on the block, as Lancaster moves up from 5A DI to 6A into one of the top districts in the state. He has a long, lean frame, with a quick release and a strong arm. Jones excels in making deep throws with touch and pushing the ball outside the numbers on a rope. His excellent pocket mobility adds to his versatility. As a junior, he threw for 1,895 yards and 20 touchdowns. Jones is committed to Nevada.     DeSoto wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='288983' first='Daylon' last='Singleton'] is one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in the District of Doom. With elite speed, phonebooth quickness, great hands, and a slashing running style in the open field, Singleton can strike at any time and from any distance. He's also a special teams threat, capable of taking a kick back for a touchdown. Last season, he caught 56 passes for 1,211 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging over 21 yards per catch. Singleton is committed to SMU.     [player_tooltip player_id='919321' first='Elijah' last='Barnes'] is a standout linebacker who has the speed to run sideline to sideline and make plays. He has great patience and ability to play fast but under control. With excellent instincts and field vision, Barnes excels in pass rush blitzes with impeccable timing. As a junior, he recorded 12 tackles for loss to along with 4 interceptions. He also contributed on offense as a running back. Barnes is one of the top returning defenders in the District of Doom and is committed to Texas.     Snell is one of the top playmakers in the District of Doom. During his freshman season at Waxahachie, he showcased his versatility by seeing significant playing time on both sides of the ball. Defensively, Snell's speed and range make him a strong presence at the safety position, complemented by a stout frame with long arms and he is a sure tackler in the open field. He has great instincts and excellent field vision. On offense, Snell's great hands and elusiveness make him a threat as a receiver. Heading into his sophomore season, he has 16 offers from schools like Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, and Missouri.
