No position has the pressure heaped on it that the quarterback position does. The 2022 class has plenty of talent and that talent stretches across all four corners of the state. In today’s article we are going to examine the quarterbacks that have the potential to have big seasons in 2021. Something else that the quarterbacks we are looking at today have in common is that most of them have flown under the radar up to this point. However, all of them will become well known throughout the state this season.

At 6-4 and 185-pounds, Acebo has the frame that scouts are looking for in a quarterback that can play on Saturdays. Acebo moves around in the pocket well. He is able to buy some time to get rid of the football. Acebo has a strong and accurate arm, which is particularly impressive when he is throwing the deep ball. Acebo is a player that has the potential to have a big year for the Hurricane and in the process make the scouts take a long look at him. Should be a fun year for Acebo and Jonesboro football fans.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75108" first="Eli" last="Alcorn"]-Newport</strong>
Alcorn is a nightmare for the opposing defense to attempt to bring down. He has good speed and is an extremely shifty runner. Alcorn is accurate with the football. He will rarely put the ball into a risky situation when throwing the football. The Newport team is a talented one and Alcorn is going to have plenty of weapons to throw the ball to. Alcorn’s versatility is going to cause defensive coordinators some sleepless nights over the next few months. He is one of the quarterbacks that could explode on to the scene this season.

The Bentonville Tigers have no shortage of weapons to distribute the football to. [player_tooltip player_id="93558" first="Drew" last="Wright"] makes good use of [player_tooltip player_id="93523" first="Cooper" last="Smith"], [player_tooltip player_id="75090" first="Chas" last="Nimrod"], [player_tooltip player_id="75107" first="Luke" last="Wright"], Christopher Collier-Surly, and [player_tooltip player_id="75143" first="Josh" last="Ficklin"]. Wright has good arm strength, and he moves around in the pocket well. The young man knows how to extend the play and still keep his eyes down the field. Wright’s mobility and his ability to throw on the run make him an interesting prospect to watch. The bottom line is Bentonville is a loaded football team and he should have an impressive season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75094" first="Landon" last="Phipps"]-Springdale</strong>
When you hear the term dual-threat quarterback, your mind should focus on [player_tooltip player_id="75094" first="Landon" last="Phipps"]. Phipps is a strong runner who can cause opposing defensive coordinators plenty of headaches with his quickness. Phipps punched the ball in the end zone 15 times last season, and he is looking to take it the distance anytime he takes off with the football. Phipps passed for six touchdowns last season, and he certainly has the potential to improve upon those numbers this season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="106935" first="Stran" last="Smith"]-Monticello</strong>
Smith has been lighting up the camp circuit over the past few weeks. Smith is an extremely accurate quarterback. He does an impressive job of putting the ball in areas the wide receiver has no trouble in bringing it in. Smith has a strong arm, and he is able to extend the play long enough to find the open wide receiver. Last season, Smith threw for 1,209 yards, 14 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions. Meanwhile, he rushed for 315 yards and two touchdowns. Smith has the potential to have an excellent season and Monticello has the potential to make some noise in the state playoffs as well.
