One of the best, most fun, most football-esque watches of the entire South Dakota State Jackrabbits’ prospect camp #2 goes to Liberty, Arizona’s Brecken Garday. An ATV of a 5’10, 210 lber. Garday was no-doubt the pound-for-pound strongest, most eye-catching, and most physical prospect in all of Brookings that day. Plus, he’s athletic, poppinf off a 4.85 40, 4.59 pro, and 8’9 broad jump. His impressively heavy hands helped Garday easily shock and excellent pad level and heavy hands stunned opponents in run blocking/defeat 1v1 drills& shed blocks from even the largest TEs the camp had to offer, and his excellent pad level and heavy hands stunned opponents in run blocking/defeat 1v1 drills. Impressively, physically-dominant strength + violence + powerful combination during alley way drills and competition against RBs, and was also comfortable and effective in pass D thanks, in large part, to his quick twitch muscles. I don’t use this phrase often, but Garday has that dog in him.

Garday is a pure defensive playmaker at LB with a natural feel for game flow and a great nose for the football. He trusts his eyes and is quick/decisive with his reads allowing him to beat blockers to the spot and get in position before the play develops. Does a great job navigating traffic, slipping past climbing linemen and working through congestion to the ball carrier without losing momentum/speed. Decisive trigger downhill, once he commits he flies to the ball and accelerates through contact to finish ball carriers to the ground. Strong fundamental tackler that attacks contact with good leverage and pad level. Good foundational skillset and instincts to build on as he develops, projected to be a major impact player at the center of the Liberty defense.
