Continue ReadingHarrison High School, which has gained even more attention over the years due to its graduate, and NFL prospect, Justin Fields, is one of the more overlooked teams in the entire state. While they have plenty of pieces to put together before being able to consistently compete against some of the top teams in the state, the talent is definitely on the team’s roster nonetheless. Going into next season, the Hoyas will hope to avenge a 4-7 season, and will also hope to go on to have success in the playoffs that they have not had in quite some time.
Reggie Brigman Reggie Brigman 6'1" | 165 lbs | WR Harrison | 2023 State GA – DB
Brigaman not only moves decently well for a 2023 prospect, but he also does a good job flying around the football field when in coverage. He does a good job of playing with sink and bend, and his burst out of his breaks also allows him to make tackles in pursuit, and plays on the ball as needed. With this, he also does a good job of taking angles, but we would like to see him wrap up better at times. While he shows that he can turn and run when in coverage, if he were to stay in the hip pocket of receivers more consistently, he could develop into a better player. If he can manage to do so, he will be able to take his game to the next level, and can even see smaller offers as a result of this.
Nathan Vail Nathan Vail 6'2" | 195 lbs | DB Harrison | 2022 State GA – S
When evaluating Vail’s tape, it is evident that even though he plays high at times, his ability to be unafraid, and to step up and make tackles, certainly ignites energy in the Hoyas’ defense. Vail also has a nose for the football, and does a good job of turning and running with receivers in coverage. Even though we would like to see him gain speed and stay in the receiver’s hip pocket more consistently, we also recognize that his ability to do so at a decent rate contributes to the success he has at this level of competition. Vail also does a good job in pursuit as well, but appears to be stiff in his movement skills. As he goes into next season, in order to take it to the next level, Vail should focus on his flexibility, bend, and fluidity of movement. This will help him to play at a better pad level, and to be able maneuver around the field more athletically.
Nick Charles- DE
Charles, who is very explosive off of the edge, can certainly become a solid defensive force for the Hoyas during the 2021 season. Not only does he get off of the ball quickly, but he uses his hands, length, and frame to his advantage, helping him to be able to stop ball carriers. His lateral movement skills are great for his age, and his athleticism, and speed being paired with this allows him to make great tackles and plays in pursuit, which ultimately helps to alter the game at times. While we like his ability to get off of the line, he does get caught leaning at times, which could hinder his success at times. Regardless, his overall short area quickness, strength, and the pop that he delivers on contact allows him to finish plays well, and put his defense in a good position.
Jaylen Bester- QB
Bester, who was a Freshman last season, did not start at the varsity level, but had plenty of success at his level of play when the ball was in his hands. Not only does Bester have great arm strength, but he also has decent vision of the field as well. Even more, Bester does a good job of finding the open receiver, even if they are deeper down the field, and releases the ball quickly, and cleanly, allowing the receiver to catch the ball in stride, and to be able to gain yards after the catch. While his footwork is very choppy, and he can be hoppy in the pocket at times, we like how he is able to maneuver the pocket, and throw strikes down the filed. Additionally, his ability to be mobile outside of the pocket, and square his shoulders when throwing on the run helps to create match up problems for the defense. In the coming years, look for him to become more technically sound, and expect him to become more polished, and to develop into a great QB for the Hoyas.
