The Kentucky Showdown featured some of the top middle school and high school quarterbacks from Kentucky as some surrounding states. While there was a ton of promising talent displayed, here are the quarterbacks who stood out the most.
McCracken County’s Maddox O’Neal Maddox O’Neal 6'1" | 160 lbs | QB KY took home the overall MVP honors from Saturday’s camp. O’Neal showed impressive anticipation and accuracy in his throws. He was able to put the ball in a spot where his intended receiver could catch it in stride. Maddox also showed the arm strength to make the tough throws in the deep passing game look easy. O’Neal doesn’t currently hold any offers but he has received some college interest and definitely has the talent to play somewhere at the next level.

is a quarterback who has grabbed my attention this offseason and continued to impress this past weekend. Wertzler took home the “Quickest Release” award on Saturday, showing the ability to get the ball out of his hands with a sense of urgency while maintaining strength and accuracy in his throws. He is also an impressive athlete with smooth footwork showing the ability to maneuver around the pocket with ease and also make throws on the run. Justus currently holds an offer from Presbyterian College and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber quarterback.

Durelle Loggins Jr is another quarterback who stood out on Saturday. Loggins took home the “Biggest Arm” award this past weekend. He has an absolute cannon for an arm which he is able to use to stretch the field with ease. Loggins also has a quick release, showing the ability to get the ball out of his hands in a hurry while maintaining accuracy. Durelle doesn’t currently hold any offers but he will be a quarterback to keep a close eye on over the next two seasons.

took home the “Most Accurate” award in Saturday’s camp. He showed the ability to hit receivers out of their breaks with ease. Lee also showed impressive pocket mobility and showed the ability to roll out of the pocket while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. AJ doesn’t currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye on as he continues to develop.

is an incoming freshman quarterback who started to make a name for himself with a strong performance on Saturday. Isable has tremendous arm talent, showing the ability to stretch the field and make any type of throw you could ask him to. He also showed impressive footwork in the pocket, showing the ability to maneuver in any direction in the pocket with ease while keeping his eyes down the field. Xavier doesn’t currently hold any offers but he is an intriguing quarterback to keep an eye on as he continues to develop at the high school level.

Corbin Felts took home the Youth MVP award in Saturday’s camp as the top middle school quarterback. Felts showed very impressive pocket mobility, showing the ability to maneuver in the pocket with ease while keeping his eyes down the field. He also showed the arm strength to stretch the field and put a ton of zip on his passes on short routes. Felts doesn’t currently hold any offers but he will be a player to keep an eye on once he makes the transition to high school.

Tanner Stutler is another middle school quarterback who stood out on Saturday. He was very impressive during rollout drills, showing the ability to move outside the pocket while keeping his eyes down the field to make throws on the run. Stutler also showed great mechanics during quick release drills, getting the ball out of his hands with a sense of urgency without sacrificing accuracy. Tanner doesn’t currently hold any offers but he will be a quarterback to keep an eye on as he continues to develop over the next several years.
