also put up a strong display in the red group during the showcase. Wignes impressed during the testing portion, running a 4.89 40 yard dash and posting a 35.5″ vertical jump. That athleticism translated during the throwing portion, showing impressive power and ball placement on his passes, whether through a flick of a wrist or on a sidearm throw. Wignes will have to wait likely one more season to see significant playing time as the varsity QB, but he will easily be at the front of the line to take over in 2026 for Buffalo.

Likely the QB2 for the Bison next season, Wignes is about as high-end as you’re going to get for a JV QB. He ran a 4.89 40 with a 4.55 shuttle, but more importantly, he stood out during the throwing portion of the camp later in the day. Wignes has pretty quick feet for a younger prospect and had one of the biggest arms in the class of ’27. I’d like to see more mustard on the ball at times, but I was frequently impressed with his ball placement on deep and intermediate routes. With another year of development as a QB, Wignes could emerge as a serious threat during his senior year.

Likely the QB of the future for the Bison, Wignes is expected to step into that starting role his senior year. He’s done a nice job of putting together some JV tape, which will give us an insight into what to expect from the young athlete. On his tape, Wignes showcases some solid varsity-level throws where he’s able to hit targets in stride more than 40 yards downfield. He’s able to put the right amount of touch on the ball pretty consistently, balancing between lofting balls over DBs heads and rifling balls into tight windows just for the wideout. He’s fairly mobile and senses pressure well in the pocket. If the pocket breaks down he’s able to escape and has made some elite throws off platform. Another year of development in the Bison’s coaching system can only help him, but rest assured he looks like an athlete remember going forward.
