About Cedric
Expert Analysis
Bryan Ault | Prep Redzone Scout
Cedric Holman is a starting defensive back for Hilliard Darby. Holman has very good ball skills especially around the goal line. His ability to time the ball with his hands, create pass breakups and be disruptive are all skills that translate for the next level. Holman can also drop back and play center field, get to the ball and make plays. He is rangy against the run and takes great angles to the ball in pursuit.

Cedric was someone who lead Ohio scout Jared Luginbill and I have discussed as someone to watch out for heading into the 2025 season. He’s put together a stellar season that has gotten him on this list. Like Geo above, he’s playing safety but projects to be a corner at the next level. He has a twitch to him, but is a fluid athlete overall. He’s got excellent closing speed to make plays on the ball and sees plays well as they develop. I’m happy to see him ball out this season.

Holman plays safety for the Panthers. While he plays safety for Darby he projects to cornerback at the next level. He’s a leader on the field as you can see him making sure people are aligned right in the right spots. He did a good job reading the offense and coming up and making plays. Holman is a fluid athlete with twitchy burst.

Holman is an athletic freak. He has extremely long arms and moves like everything is in slow motion. He has good hips and can flip well down the field, and does well at taking away sideline space on deep fades. He plays the ball well and can break up passes from underneath. Holman has plenty of room to still grow as he is only a sophomore, and I am excited to see what he can do in 2025.

Hollman came to our Ohio Showcase in May. He had a great day earning one of the MVP’s at the defensive back position. He was matched up against older and more experienced players all day long and more than held his own. Holman has the athleticism to mirror in coverage and the speed to run with receivers. When the ball is in the air, he’s a hands catcher who has the body control to adjust and make the harder catches. Cedric just needs to continue to work on getting bigger and stronger. I’m excited to see what the future holds for this young man.
