The 2024 football season is a little over three months away.

But taking a stab at which players will have every opportunity to blow up during the 10-game regular season and postseason doesn't need to wait.

From the western edge of the Grand Strand to deep inside the Pee Dee, the next rendition of Region VI-A will blend teams from the old Region V and Region VI in a way that will break relatively new territory. Yet, we think the grittiness of the new conglomerate will remain, as many of their established stars are back in uniform for another go.

This new seven-school region will turn some heads soon, led by these likely team MVP candidates.

CARVERS BAY BEARS

[player_tooltip player_id='402516' first='Zyon' last='Guiles'] OL/DL, 2026

With many of the Bears' top players from last season moving on, Guiles steps into his rightful place for 2024 (and 2025) as not only a great player, but a leader. Those things should feed off each other early and often for the No. 2 ranked offensive lineman in our Class of 2026. At 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, it's not difficult to see that very few opposing defenders in this region can attack him successfully. What's more, by the time region play hits, there's a strong possibility he's going to be lining up on defense, too.

GREEN SEA FLOYDS TROJANS

Ryder Buffkin QB/DB/LS, 2026

While this Buffkin hasn't become a household name for Green Sea Floyds just yet (at least on the gridiron), he's about to have every chance to replicate some of the success he's had on the diamond and that of his older family members before him. This fall, he's going to be serving as the Trojans' starting quarterback, strong safety and long snapper. He's not going to get many breaks, as this is a team that's trying to make Year 2 of the Patrick Martin era include a few more wins.

HANNAH-PAMPLICO RAIDERS

[player_tooltip player_id='464882' first='Jamarcus' last='Williams'] RB, 2025

Despite the fact that Williams lost the majority of his junior season to a knee injury, an earlier-than-originally planned surgery and his offseason routine has him back and ready to roll. He recently picked up his first college offer (North Greenville) and if he comes close to his 2,000-yard sophomore season this fall, more will follow. He and quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='922678' first='Wade' last='Poston'] are a fantastic one-two punch and Hannah-Pamplico should be in line for a decent playoff seed.

HEMINGWAY TIGERS

Amari White DL/LB, 2025

The struggles at Hemingway the last five years have been very real. Since the start of the 2019 season, the team has won just two games, and it's about to be on yet another coach. Yet, what the Tigers have is a handful of players who got all the run they could handle last fall, when Hemingway snapped a 27-game losing streak. Among them is White, the team's hybrid linebacker/edge rusher who has a knack for getting behind the line. He's undersized for the line at 5-foot-10 and 170 pounds but he's adept in pursuit and a playmaker for at team craving playmakers.

JOHNSONVILLE FLASHES

[player_tooltip player_id='1012649' first='Landyn' last='Cribb'] LB, 2025

Cribb hasn't necessarily been the heart and sole of this defense the last two years - this team's been pretty loaded in making back-to-back championship appearances - but what he has been is the most reliable tackler Johnsonville has seen in some time. This fall, Cribb will be aiming for his third straight season finishing in the triple digits in total tackles. He had more than 120 last season to go along with 20 tackles for loss. Occasionally, you'll see him pull off stuff like this on offense, too.

LAKE VIEW GATORS

Tyrell Foxworth RB, 2025

Foxworth is a high-volume back who has the utmost trust of the play-calling staff at Lake View. It rode him heavy in a first-round playoff win over Whale Branch. By that point, he'd already topped 1,000 rushing yards on the season. He's going to start the year as the team's primary offensive weapon and we think he can do even more damage as a senior. Even though there are some holes to fill, he's got all the shiftiness he needs to put up yards in bunches playing in this offense.

LATTA VIKINGS

[player_tooltip player_id='1013065' first='Amir' last='Rogers'] RB/LB, 2025

With so many of the biggest Latta names from the 2023 season graduating, the Vikings will be in need of playmakers. The 6-foot, 175-pound Rogers (pictured) is a natural fit to take up the mantle. He's one of the team's top returning tacklers on defense. The same goes for his rushing tally on offense. This is a team that makes no bones about getting its best players on the field, even if it increases the workload. Don't sleep on Rogers making the most of his added touches and/or defensive assignments.
