Late last night, I braved the snow, cold, and questionable road conditions to check out RecruitReady, Minnesota Grind, and MN Go Get It in some 7on7 action in Woodbury. RecruitReady, based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was on the way to Chicago for a regional 7v7 tournament and made the stop in the Twin Cities for extra work, so we have a bit of North America spice here and prospects from multiple countries highlighted. The Canadians brought the juice, as did the Minnesota-based MN Grind and MN Go Get It, and I left the Minnesota Health Fairview Sports Center with some new names, new evaluations that impressed, and a ton of classes represented in my Top Performers from the event. Let's check out the best Underclassmen Standouts I saw below.

Personally, the prospect I came away most impressed by happened to be a 13-year-old, class of 2029er. Yes, a current 7th grader! The younger brother of current Golden Gophers true freshman Dallas Sims, WR [player_tooltip player_id='1357973' first='Donte' last='Sims'] put on a show and looked like the best player on the field against 15U competition, some of whom were three years older than the young buck. Sims was tall for his age, extremely smooth when changing direction and got open on a large variety of routes, was looked at and played like the go-to target and WR1 of the 15U squad, and could win contested catches and 50/50 balls. He was RecruitReady's best 15U player in my opinion, and was a natural at creating separation and getting open. Still extremely early, but I'm confident this kid is a P5 prospect to be and a soon-to-be very popular future recruit on the recruiting trail.

[player_tooltip player_id='592229' first='Izaak' last='Johnson'] (Cretin-Derham Hall) QB. 2026. 6'2, 180 lbs.

Competitive and high-energy, CDH sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='592229' first='Izaak' last='Johnson'] was the top QB at last night's event and got better as the competition progressed. Johnson showed accuracy, consistency, and good timing on his throws all over the field, and I liked how he improvised and made things happen on the fly and when he was on the move.

[player_tooltip player_id='1255913' first='Calen' last='Truckenbrod'] (Spring Lake Park) WR. 2026. 6'4, 200 lbs.

Playing with the 15U squad, Truckenbrod was quite the eye-catcher, looking all of his reported 6'4, 200 and possessing length, some developing muscle definition, and a huge wingspan. Besides his awesome frame, Truckenbrod shows off some good speed that aided him as a deep threat, a big catch radius, and some decent COD skills for his age and size. New name on my radar, and one I'm excited to add as well.

Dane Birr (Hudson, WI) 2026. WR/DB. 5'11, 160 lbs.

We got some Wisconsin representation in the house. Good frame that possessed some length, Birr was balling out in the 15U division and proved himself to be a deep threat with a competitive streak. He was also good in space throughout the night of action.

[player_tooltip player_id='923832' first='Carson' last='Turner'] (Chaska) 2026. 5'11, 190 lbs.

I was stoked to find out the sophomore Chaska standout competed with MN Go Get It, and boy was he hard to ignore last night in Woodbury. Dominate versus 15U competition, Turner was effective on both sides of the ball and the best player on the turf when he competed as either a WR or DB. Developed and impressive build with muscle definition in both his upper and lower body, he looked like a senior playing with freshmen in terms of his frame and current size, and was the clear #1 target and go-to for his QB, whether planned pre-snap or in the heat of the moment. Good hands and body awareness, could win contested catches, dangerous in space and 1on1 settings, and powerful when he planted his cleat in the turf and cut. Turner pulled off a thrilling one-handed catch over a DBs head, possessed a competitive and focused attitude, and is smooth when changing direction. I enjoyed talking to him as well. The Chaska sophomore is in top consideration for RB1 in the upcoming 2026 PRzMN update.

[player_tooltip player_id='1218678' first='Liam' last='Larson'] (Eden Prairie) 2027. DB/WR.

Good length, two-way contributor, and flashed some athleticism for his age.

[player_tooltip player_id='1288386' first='Tommy' last='Subah'] (Burnsville) 2027. WR/CB.

Around 6' tall already, played on both sides of the ball, used his length well to reel in receptions or break up passes at the catch point. Lots of room to fill in and was more comfortable than his peers in running routes and backpedaling.

Mason Stene (Lakeville South) 2028. CB.

Only an 8th grader, Stene is playing well above what his age would suggest and was a better QB than a lot of his high school counterparts. Coaches were high on him, looked athletic as a route runner and played multiple positions for MN Go Get It, and is a name to know heading into the high school ranks at powerhouse Lakeville South.

[player_tooltip player_id='490114' first='Dylan' last='Hawley'] (Prior Lake) 2026. LB. 5'11, 205 lbs.

Looked and played the part of a sophomore starter for a 6A Metro heavyweight program. Good muscle definition, smooth when changing direction, flipped his hips well in coverage, and forced some incompletions across the middle for his MN Go Get It defense. Good showing from the Lakers LB who we already were high on.
