Overview: Even with the final score of 27-12 in favor of the Sentinels the game was much closer than the score makes it appear. This was without a doubt a hard-fought victory for the Sentinels earned in the 4th quarter and these are the players that caught my eye! Fort Hill Sentinels Blake White, 6'2", 200, 2022 [caption id="attachment_122961" align="alignright" width="300"] Blake White[/caption] Blake was able to show off his skill as a contributor on both sides of the ball. On the offensive end, Blake did his damage from the running back position, where he created explosive plays by running the ball and catching the ball out of the backfield. Blake was able to electrify his team early in the 4th quarter by showing off his speed on a 23-yard touchdown reception, where he was able to separate from the player covering him and win the foot race to the endzone. On the defensive side of the ball, Blake did an excellent job of locking down the edge from his outside linebacker position. He showed the strength to stand up opposing blockers before shedding them to make the tackle when the ball came his way, denying the Allegany offense the opportunity to create explosive plays on the edge. Overall, Blake had an excellent performance and was able to leave his fingerprints all over this game, and he was, without a doubt, a key piece to the Fort Hill victory. [player_tooltip player_id="90524" first="Breven" last="Stubbs"], 6'0", 180, 2022 Breven's consistent offensive output from the running back position made a huge impact on the game. During this contest, Breven was able to show off his patients as a runner by taking the time to watch the blocks develop in front of him before bursting through for a chunk gain. He did a majority of his damage on the edge of the defense, where he's able to take advantage of his speed. His coaches did an excellent job of splitting him out wide so that he can use his speed on receiver screens and even jet sweeps to create explosive plays. A great example of his speed was when he used it to seal the victory on a receiver screen from about the 5-yard line where he reversed field and won a footrace to the other sideline to punch in the score. Breven made his presence felt and helped his team separate from their opponent both on the field and on the scoreboard, proving speed still kills. Treston Davis, 6'5", 240, 2021 Treston was able to help his team win the trenches on both sides of the ball with his play as a tight end and defensive tackle. As a tight end, Treston showed off his skill as a blocker, dominating opposing defensive ends with excellent leverage, hand placement, and leg drive to create holes in the defense. He can even be seen running downfield to deliver blocks onto second-level defenders, showing his drive to play until the whistle is blown. On the defensive end, Treston consistently created knockback using his strength and explosiveness, forcing the ball carrier to change direction before passing the scrimmage line, leading to short gains or negative plays that put the offense behind schedule. Treston's impact in the trenches during this game can't be overlooked, and his presence helped the Sentinels bottle up the Campers running game and secure the victory. Allegany Campers Trevan Powell, 5'10", 200, 2021 Regardless of the loss, Trevan's efforts as a do-it-all player for the Campers cannot go unnoticed. The announcer called Trevan's name more than any other player as he made plays on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball as a running back and linebacker. As a running back, he showed off his speed and vision by knowing when to bounce the run and get on the edge of the defense or stick his foot in the ground and get upfield. He also showed off his ability to catch the ball from both the backfield and split out wide, even coming away with multiple explosive plays in the passing game, including a 23-yard touchdown reception. As a linebacker, Trevan showed his potential to be a sideline-to-sideline guy as he used speed to fly around the field making plays. He does a good job of finding the right angle to cut off the opponent's ball carrier while sifting though would be blockers en route to the play. I was highly impressed with the way Trevan continued to keep his energy high and make plays throughout the game despite the heavy workload and undesired result. He is the type of "do whatever it takes" player every team needs.
