Expert Analysis
Paul Gregorian | Prep Redzone Scout
Cahill is a improvising gunslinger that transferred over to Meridian for his Junior season from Cole Valley Christian and is one of the top returning passers across Idaho heading into the 2026 season. He has a strong arm downfield, puts nice touch on the ball over the top with a tight spiral and zip on the ball and shows he can evade pressure and is not afraid to step up and take a shot to deliver it downfield. He also shows he can throw on the run with a few different arm angles and throws his guys open leading them away from defenders. He is a seemingly high IQ passer that moves quickly through his progressions and can deliver on time, while also not afraid to dump it off and does a nice job moving safeties/off corners with his eyes. He should draw plenty of next level attention this off-season and is poised for a big senior year for Meridian.

Cahill made the transfer over to Meridian for his Junior season and got off to a solid start in their opening week against Eagle and should continue on a upward trend. He checks into our last rankings update as a top 10 signal caller in the class and should have a breakout Junior season campaign. On Friday night he threw for 264 yards and 2 scores while nearly completing 70% of his passes against a very solid defense for Eagle.

Cahill has moved over the Owyhee high school where he is now taking snaps under center for the Storm. He has a quick release with the ability to get the ball out to his playmakers on the edge and also can throw with tremendous touch. As he grows into his frame he will be able to really push the ball down the field and shows the ability to move to make off platform throws. Should be a name to watch in the years to come for sure.

Cahill had a very promising Freshmen campaign, and put up some big time numbers in his first season behind center. He checks in here inside the top 3 at his position, and takes the final spot in our initial top ten rankings overall. He threw for over 1,200 yards and had over a 50% completion percentage, while tossing another 11 TD’s through the air and 1 on the ground rushing. The talented Freshmen will look to build off a strong off-season and should be atop the passing leaderboards across the region in 2024 and will have no shortage of starting varsity experience.
