James continues to add mass and mold his body. He passes the eye test right off the bat, and his performance Sunday gives me some more confidence in his ability going forward.
-Really solid throw power, and improving footwork/mechanics
-Was able to make a couple of high-level throws against really good coverage. Multiple reps he was able to “throw his man open”
-Was very accurate when ripping the ball on the run. Makes him extremely dangerous as a dual threat

A live arm, Varsity experience, a few in-person evaluations, and a good highlight tape.
James’ all-around accuracy is near top of the class. Film and my in-person work prove that. I also greatly appreciate that James is experienced in making quick reads with pressure in his face at the Varsity level. His mechanics can take a hit when pressured. His throw power does, too, but James is still able to be accurate.
There are a few question marks with James. For one, he does play a slightly worse strength of schedule than other QBs on this list. Doesn’t matter a ton, but still makes a small difference. Also, testing numbers would be great.

Torain III was someone I didn’t get to see a ton of this weekend, but he looked great when I did see him. He has a great drop-back and can explode with great velocity. He attacks the middle of the field very well and does a good job at hitting his checkdown quickly if nothing is open downfield.

James put out a really nice 2024 highlight tape. It looks like he is really well rounded and has a ton of intangible traits that put him at a really nice advantage.
I really like his ball placement. It seems that he has the understanding and ability to adjust where to put the ball depending on situations. His arm strength is good, and can pair it with really good athleticism to make the defense really guess on how to attack. James has a ton to like already and will undoubtedly continue to build on his pure talent.

James has shown some good flashes this season. His sophomore varsity highlights show pretty much exactly what I saw from James this past offseason. At his best, James stands strong in the pocket and delivers a quick strike to his receiver.
His highlights also have good variety. James has a couple of deep throws, sideline throws, quick game, off-schedule, etc. There are a couple instances where James throws to the sideline just over a defender, which is impressive.
James still has a few things to work on. For one, James could throw the ball with a bit more zip. I’d also like him to build off his already good athleticism. Right now, I’d say that James is a future D3 quarterback, but there’s no question that he has D2 upside.

James is someone who I liked on film, but truly impressed me in person. At Legacy a few months ago, James proved that he can make any throw to any part of the field. He knows how to read the field in a 7on7 setting and can throw an accurate ball to any part of the field. He also got the ball out quite quickly. I know that James is also quite athletic, so that should add another dimension to his game. Excited to see how he ends up developing in the coming years.

James was initially a bit lower on this list until I saw him at Legacy last weekend. I thought his fundamentals looked inconsistent on film, but in a more controlled 7v7 scenario at Legacy he looked a lot more calm and consistent. He also made more good throws and read the defense better than I had expected. Still a lot to work on, but I love his upside.
