Another strong showing for the freshman out of Verona. Max checked in at 6’2′ 196 lbs with almost 9″ hands. A great frame for the 2028 to continue to build upon over the coming years. Another key trait for him to lean on is his arm strength. All day long Maxwell showed off his ability to push the ball to the deepest parts of the field with his natural arm strength. The freshman did a great job of putting it up where his man could go and attack it at the high point. It was also impressive watching him be to really step into it and drive the ball on intermediate routes towards the far sideline. I’m excited to see him mechanics continue to become more fluid so that he can get the ball out quicker and his accuracy can become even more consistent, but the kid is at a really good place in his development.

A 2028 that I was glad to get a first live look at was Max McElgunn. Max is at a really good spot in his early career development. He is already 6’3″ 190 lbs, so the young signal caller is still getting comfortable in his frame while also developing his game. The strongest takeaway is that the kid is blessed with a strong arm. An arm that left no doubts about being able to attack the entire field on a Friday night. Especially when passing from the pocket the ’28 is able to get behind the ball and drive it on a rope even on the deepest throws of the day. As the footwork continues to improve as he grows and matures into his frame we are in store for some strong leaps in this kid’s game. Keep an eye on the freshman.

Maxwell is a big framed, big armed QB that is giving the Verona freshman team the chance to really push the ball down the field. The left handed QB has smooth mechanics and throwing motion that will continue to increase in speed as he ages and trains. The freshman is able to get the ball to jump out of his hand and hit the short to intermediate levels on a rope to beat closing DBs. The 2028 also can really let it fly downfield and has shown he can push the ball 40 yards downfield with accuracy. This is definitely an athlete to have on your early radars as he works his way through the ranks.
