Getting to play QB in high school is not only an unbelievable experience for many, but it is an extremely big responsibility as well. Each prospect holds such a high level of responsibility to the offense, and the team’s success is oftentimes predicated on the QB’s operation of the scheme. While some players throughout Georgia, such as Trevor Lawrence, and Justin Fields have gone on to be unbelievable high school QB prospects, there are others who may only have a fraction of their talent, but are still worthy to play at smaller programs, and will display a ton of success when doing it as well. Below, we have listed a few smaller school QB prospects in the 2021 class who we feel are worth taking a look at. Rashad Davis- Fitzgerald Davis, who has a strong arm, has shown that he can execute an offense with deep shots and passes at a very high level. Not only can he operate this to efficiency, but he also has put on film that he can be an effective game manager, and handle checkdowns as needed as well. While he does not make too many key mistakes at QB, he also does not have an overly talented arm that will strictly win you games from within the pocket. Regardless, Davis’ ability to open things as a mobile QB has also helped his offense to a great degree. He has solid footwork, and a shaky pocket presence, that oftentimes is nullified due to his ability to escape. His ability to place the ball well on the move can be seen to be a strength of his, and he also makes decent first reads. Whether he decides to play at the next level or not, we feel he would be a great small school QB. Caden Dickey- Northview Dickey, who has decent throwing mechanics, and good ball placement managed to be an effective player for his offense during his senior year. WIth the ball in his hands, not only does he show that he can throw under duress, but he can make great decisions as well. Along with this, he also has the athletic ability to pick up extra yards as needed. His vision of the field and distribution of the football ultimately results in great gains for his team. While we feel he would need to develop in his ability to make extensive reads if he were to play at the next level, we feel he has a talented enough arm, especially due to his touch and release, to be able to win games. Zach Garcia- Effingham When cutting on the tape of Garcia, it is exciting to try to project what he could possibly do for a small program. Not only does he have great mobility and burst, but he can deliver strikes down the field when he throws from the pocket. He has smooth throwing mechanics, and he also has a clean release. He sees the field well, and makes good reads, and allows his touch on the football to help him make big throws. While we want to see him make more college level throws, the few intermediate throws we see him make are impressive in themselves. He works the sidelines well, and can also throw the ball with accuracy, and timeliness. If a program gives him a chance to further his football career, we are confident that he would find ways to use his talent to win them plenty of games. Elan Hall- Allatoona One of the things that jumps off of the tape right away about Hall is that he has a very gifted, and strong arm. While he does not have the touch that other QB’s may have, he does have the arm strength to get the football where it has to go. He operates well with short passes, and also shows that he has a beautiful deep ball, that oftentimes results in 6 points. While he also has the athletic ability necessary to escape for a gain of a few yards, one of his biggest bits of talent is the fact that this puts defenses off balance. Undoubtedly, we would like to see him improve with his footwork, and overall choppiness in the pocket, but we think that either way, he could be a great QB for a smaller program who needs a mobile QB, with a strong arm.
