WEEK 10: Fast Moving Season
This fast-moving season now has two more weeks before the state playoffs get under way.
The Race For Tallahassee is indeed taking shape – and the next two weeks – things will become clearer as district and regional titles will take shape.
Each week during the season, we have brought you some of the top teams along with others who are trying to extend their season.
As we head toward week 10, here is a look at the way the Top 25 plus stack up:
1 Bradenton IMG Academy (Independent, 7-0). LAST WEEK: The Ascenders remained unbeaten with a 53-7 win against Gray Collegiate Academy. THIS WEEK: Another home game against Life Christian Academy, Virginia. NEXT WEEK: A home contest against St. Thomas More, Connecticut.
2. Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna (1M, 8-0). LAST WEEK: The Lions stayed perfect with a 64-0 win against Hollywood Avant Garde Academy. THIS WEEK: An away game against Boca Raton Saint John Paul II. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end against Lakewood in St. Petersburg.
3. Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas (3M, 8-1). LAST WEEK: The Raiders had no problem with Coconut Creek Monarch, winning 35-19. THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a home district game against Fort Lauderdale Dillard. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs, TBA.
4. Miami Norland (2M, 8-0). LAST WEEK: The Vikings stayed unbeaten with a 16-3 win against No. 13 Miami Christopher Columbus, 16-3, in the GMAC finals. THIS WEEK: An away district contest against North Miami Beach. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a road game against Miami Killian.
5. Cocoa (2S, 7-1). LAST WEEK: The Tigers remained hot with a 63-0 win against Titusville Astronaut. THIS WEEK: A home district contest against Palm Bay. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end on the road in the annual BBQ Bowl against Rockledge.
6. Orlando Edgewater (3M, 9-0). LAST WEEK: In remaining unbeaten, the Eagles won a 45-0 district contest against Winter Garden Horizon. THIS WEEK: The team will be off. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end on the road with the annual showdown against Orlando Boone.
7, Miami Central (2M, 6-3). LAST WEEK: The Rockets won their GMAC game against Miami Southridge, 41-0 and 55-0 against Miami Carol City. THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with an away district game against Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs, TBA.
8. Daytona Beach Mainland (3S, 8-0). LAST WEEK: The Buccaneers took care of business with a 22-0 win against Kissimmee Osceola. THIS WEEK: The annual showdown on the road against Daytona Beach Seabreeze. NEXT WEEK: A huge regular season ending home game against No. 15 Lake Mary.
9. Homestead (3M, 7-1). LAST WEEK: The Broncos won their GMAC Week contest against Miami Edison, 28-14. THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end on the road against Miami Belen Jesuit. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs, TBA.
10. Plantation American Heritage (2M, 6-1). LAST WEEK: The Patriots had little problem with southwest Florida power Naples, 38-17. THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a road district game against Hallandale. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs, TBA.
11. Miami Palmetto (4M, 7-1). LAST WEEK: The Panthers remained hot with a GMAC Week victory over Miami Dr. Krop, 44-9. THIS WEEK: Will have the week off. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a road game at Miami Beach.
12. Gainesville Buchholz (4S, 8-0). LAST WEEK: The impressive season continued for the Bobcats with a convincing 44-7 win against St. John's Bartram Trail. THIS WEEK: An away district contest against Fleming Island. NEXT WEEK: An away game against 2S power Ocala Trinity Catholic.
13. Miami Christopher Columbus (4M, 7-2). LAST WEEK: The Explorers dropped a GMAC Week championship game to No. 4 Miami Norland, 16-3. THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end at home against Miami Lakes Barbara Goleman. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs, TBA.
14. Clearwater Central Catholic (1M, 8-0). LAST WEEK: The Marauders were off. THIS WEEK: A home game against Seffner Christian. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end against 2M power Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale.
`15. Lake Mary (4M, 8-0). LAST WEEK: The Rams continued to show why they are one of the best teams in 4M with a convincing 49-21 win against defending 4M state runner up Apopka. THIS WEEK: Another huge district road game against No. 19 Sanford Seminole. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end at No. 8 Daytona Beach Mainland.
16. Tampa Bay Tech (3M, 8-1). LAST WEEK: Lost a tough 35-28 decision to surging Tampa Jesuit. THIS WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a home district game against No. 18 Seffner Armwood. NEXT GAME: State Playoffs, TBA.
17. Vero Beach (4S, 7-1). LAST WEEK: The Indians won a home against Stuart Martin County, 28-3. THIS WEEK: The annual district title showdown on the road against Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast on Saturday night. NEXT WEEK: The regular season ends with a home game against Lake City Columbia.
18. Seffner Armwood (3M, 7-1). LAST WEEK: The Hawks are back on track with a convincing win at Plant City, 43-9. THIS WEEK: A huge district road game against No. 16 Tampa Bay Tech. NEXT WEEK: The regular season comes to an end with a home game against Ruskin Lennard.
