Last year as a freshman, Ferguson earned RB MVP honors and this winter, he did it again after a stellar performance at the #PRZTN Winter Showcase. From the testing portion of camp all the way into 1 on 1 action, Ferguson was as consistent as any player in attendance. The Red Raiders ball carrier tested well but he really shined when we reached positional teaching and 1 on 1 competition versus the linebackers. His quickness and elusive body movements were difficult for the linebackers to handle. Ferguson has an excellent burst about himself that gives defenders fits but also simply has a great feel for the game. This Fall, you should see Ferguson gain a bigger role with his Red Raiders team and potentially become a game changer.

Coming in at number five on my list is Jack Ferguson, an athlete at Baylor Middle School. In addition to great size and speed, Ferguson caught my attention with his solid footwork as well as his ability to juke out the opposition with his versatility on the run. I also liked how Ferguson could wrap up the defense with his physicality down the stretch.

Grades (out of 10)
Vision (8) Jack has juke moves and can see little creases to escape to
Speed (7.5) More quick than fast but either way he’s getting there.
Power (7.5) Height on top of weight makes him compact and strong. Don’t think he’s a lay up or you might end up laid out.
Balance (8) Jack knows who he is and plays to his strengths. His low center of gravity is a positive attribute. Has great body control running with the ball and/or adjusting to bad balls in the air.
Ball Skills/Security (8) Good hands and protects the ball and himself well
BPA-Big Play Ability (7.5) Explosive by nature and will sneak up and wow the crowd from time to time.
I would not call Jack undersized. He is evenly built and has a lot of goodies in his goodie bag. Physical and plays with chip on shoulder. Fun to watch.
Writer Drew Toennies appreciated his footwork through drills. Was a MVP candidate.

, an athlete that also walked away from camp with MVP honors. What I like about Ferguson is his ability to read his opponent and use his electric speed off the whistle to make the most of his opportunities down the stretch. Another aspect of Ferguson’s playstyle that stands out is his versatile edge, proving he can overpower his opponent in coverage and use his footwork to juke out his man during one-on-ones. Ferguson definitely deserved to win MVP accolades for his performance.
