The victory improved St. Johnsbury's Division I record to 5-0. The Seawolves led 34-14 midway through the third quarter, but two TD passes by Spallieri cut the Rutland's deficit to 34-26. He then returned the blocked punt for a TD that made it a 34-32 game with 11:36 to play. One of the game's key play was Benoit's 67-yard run that moved the ball to the Windsor 14-yard line. Quarterback Nolan Quenneville ended the drive by scoring the game's only touchdown on a 1-yard run. He led the Hilltoppers to the Division I championship game as the team's starting quarterback last season, but was moved to wide receiver this year. He caught 11 passes for 163 yards and a touchdown to help St. Johnsbury raise its record to 5-0 with a 35-14 win against previously unbeaten Colchester.
