After going behind the scenes and looking at three big-picture things of note, let's break down our six ranked edge rushers, four of whom are Top 6 players in the class.

Powell gets the nod as the top prospect in our initial class rankings. From his size and strength to his speed to the way he plays the game, you'd never know he was a freshman just by looking at him. His power profile is impressive at 205, and he has the frame to add plenty of muscle weight in the offseason without losing his get-off and sub-4.9 speed. We're going to enjoy watching him over the next four seasons.

Howell's height is not a typo, and it's not hard to see why he's so coveted by college programs this early in the process. His length is a major weapon as he's able to keep tackles off of his frame. He's more of a power rusher right now, but he also excels at setting the edge and keeping quarterbacks in the pocket and running backs from bouncing runs. Like a lot of these other guys, he's an elite talent that we're excited to track over the next four years.

Connelly isn't quite as long as some of the other elite edge rushers in the state, but his acceleration off the line is probably the best of the bunch. He can win on inside or outside moves, and he's already excellent playing the run. He's a high I.Q. player who can win reps by adjusting to what he's seen on film, and it's obvious from his tape that he's a future Power Four end.

Jeffries is yet another 2030 edge prospect who doesn't look like a freshman. He's on a loaded Corvian Community defensive line, but he's already become a huge part of that unit. His bend and speed off the line at his size are impressive, and his physical profile (plus elite early production) are a big part of the reason he has an early Louisville offer.

Brooks plays both ways for Red Springs, and while he's flashed as a bigger running back, it's obvious that he's a future dynamic edge rusher. He plays with plenty of power, and he's put a couple of nice rip and swim moves on film, too. We love the early returns, and at 6'2", 225 pounds, he has the frame, quickness, and power to improve as he gets older.

Harrison is having a great year for a Southern Alamance team relying heavily on underclassmen, and he looks like a dynamic pass-catcher. Harrison is playing a lot as a 3-4 defensive end, coming down as far as the 3-technique in certain alignments. He's very quick off the line, and he has the length and bend to get after the quarterbacks around the edge. In any other class, he'd be a top three or four edge rusher in the state.
