Peterson Carries Legacy + Diridolfo is Best Pure Center I’ve Seen

One of my guiltiest pleasures when ranking prospects for Prep Redzone New Jersey is picking-and-choosing to highlight prospects that I thought had outstanding film. As part of our class of 2027 player rankings update, I get to highlight those prospects who put on a show with their highlight reels. Below are a handful of prospects who have film that left an impression on me.

Be sure to follow me on Twitter for the latest New Jersey high school football prospect news and not miss a beat!

In terms of in-the-box linebackers, [player_tooltip player_id='1922182' first='Suenens' last='Saint Fleur'] is a very good one. When defending the pass we watch him open, flip, and run as he eyes the quarterback's drop. Moreover, there are moments when he simply is the fastest prospect on the field - as noticed when he outran an entire offensive unit on a pick-six he collected. As any solid box linebacker would, he reads his keys and plugs gaps; and as expected he is a forceful tackler, using every bit of his weight and momentum behind him. As plays flow toward the sideline, Saint Fleur gets his hands on the perimeter blockers, sometimes fighting off more than one, as he sheds his way to set an edge.

Peterson is a surname name that might ring a bell in Union City. As such, [player_tooltip player_id='1881720' first='Jordan' last='Peterson'] represents it proudly. A linebacker, Peterson has shown the ability to play both on the line and in space. When at the line, he does a great job of finishing his rips, while also having very good second- and third steps off the snap of the ball. With each of those steps we see Peterson gain plenty of speed, power, and momentum, often running through opponents. His bigger body, perhaps likely destined to have his hand in the ground, wraps and drives well when tackling.

Cresskill has a quality quarterback under center with [player_tooltip player_id='1923210' first='Jake' last='Lewin']. It is clear that Lewin has a lot more command on his throws than most of his contemporaries, particularly when he is throwing a downfield strike. Downfield, particularly over the top, seems to be Lewin's preferred way to attack a defense. Moreover, Lewin has shown the athleticism to extend plays with his feet when necessary - keeping his eyes down field until he is ready to rifle the ball. Lewin's tape comes across as that of a gunslinger, where he loves to throw the rock and challenge defenses. It seems as though he was born and is a natural at the position.

A reigning state champion with Washington Township, [player_tooltip player_id='1966609' first='Jake' last='Diridolfo'] is poised to defend his title and raise his college prospects. One of the best true-center prospects I recall, Diridolfo is awfully powerful. A mere blow from him can complete knock a defender off balance. Excellent on double teams, Diridolfo totally displaces defensive lineman into the lap of their linebackers, paving clear path for running backs in the process. What makes Diridolfo so outstanding is that he delivers an immediate push up the middle, reestablishing the line of scrimmage quickly and in a hurry; on average, I would say that the line is guaranteed to move a consistent 4-yards forward into plus territory. You can see the makings of a very good college prospect because, physically, you see Diridolfo bend and adopt proper, textbook-esque body posture when drive blocking. Lastly, as any good center ought to be able to do, we see Diridolfo snap and step simultaneously.

New Jersey Class of 2027 Player Rankings Update

Official New.
