Next Two Games Will Define Defending State Champion Raines

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When they came from behind to win the 3A state championship last December at Pitbull Stadium on the campus of FIU, the Jacksonville Raines Vikings stood in a place they had hoped to be in the year before.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>While beating Miami Northwestern in their own city may not have meant a lot to many, it meant the world to Raines graduate and head coach <strong>Donovan Masline</strong>, his assistant coaches, players, administration, current student body and the alumni who had made this program special throughout the years.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When they were embarrassed the year before in the title game against the Bulls, there were some disappointed fans who had to make their way north – many with their tail between their legs after falling way short of their goals in 2024.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>What Masline and this program has built in DUVAL County is a team that is built on a strong work ethic and pride – and over the past nine months – bragging about what they had accomplished on that December evening in Miami-Dade County is indeed a badge of honor. If they are going to continue that impressive tradition, the next three weeks will certainly determine if they belong with the elite or fall back in the pack.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Not only county bragging rights will be on the line this Friday at home when the No. 8 Vikings (4-0) will play host to the No. 14 Mandarin Mustangs.
