Newest Radar Hits: Defensive Playmakers

Trying to find the next steal or top talent in a Class is a never-ending job. There are roughly 25,000 high school football players in Wisconsin alone, so there are so many athletes to check out, watch, and learn about. Over the past week or so we have had several defensive players put themselves on our radar intentionally or unintentionally. Among the group of new radar hits are several impressive DL prospects along with edge talent and a DB well worth adding to the recruiting board. Jake has a long, lean frame for the DT position with so much room to continue to bulk up at the next level. Jake has learned to be extremely disruptive while using his best traits. That being his quick get off and ability to turn that speed into power. The highlights are filled with examples of him power his way into the backfield and using leverage to drive OL backwards or getting skinny and shooting through gaps. Jake also plays with active hands. Mason is a 6'3" 245 lbs DE who has proven to be successful from a two or three point stance. Despite the huge frame the tape shows a kid who has range to pursue from behind as well as a quick get off and hips to be able to flip and bend with to beat OL. Mason does a great job using his length and strong upper body to maintain separation and quickly swipe away hands of the OL. Lomira has been a team that has pumped out defensive standouts in recent years. The senior has the build for the position at the next level featuring great length and use of that length to keep himself with separation that he can use to defeat blocks. His tape shows a kid that is agile on the edge, avoiding blocks and corralling the RB without losing contain. When he does take on pulling linemen Gibson leaves no doubt that he has the talent to set the edge and even drive the OL backwards. Billy also contributes on offense at TE for Lakeside Lutheran. The 2028 CB is an athlete that the Hudson defense trusts to play 1 on 1 in man coverage on an island. Jordan has the gifts for the task. He is quick and very fast to read and react to the WR's hips. The speed is there to run to every level of the field with his man and Jordan has the natural ball skills to turn those moments of great positioning into turnovers. Jordan has also done a great job of being a playmaker out wide including having a great feel for guys entering his no fly zone and then closing on them to make a play on the ball even when the guy wasn't his initial assignment. The 2028 DL joins a loaded DL position group in the Class of 2028. I love the quick twitch athleticism the big man plays with. It allows him to get skinny and fly through gaps or make the lateral movements to position himself so that he only has to beat half a man. The twitchy DL is also blessed with power and heavy hands to walk OL back. Bradford is learning quickly on how to become a consistently disruptive force.
