Midseason Monsters: OL Breakout Athletes

My ever-growing list of new additions to the rankings features several members of the position and they span across all four graduating classes. With the addition of these kids to their rankings we are going to be even more on our way towards continuing the tradition of outstanding offensive line production and recruitment. This looks like an athlete who has the chance to compete for that top tier of OL in his Class. He possesses rare size and length, already checking in at 6'6" 280 lbs. Thomas currently is manning one of the OG positions, and he has the tools to eventually slide out if needed down the road. I have been very impressed by his pass pro reps. The big man is showing that he can be light on his feet and slide laterally to stay in front of IDL. His heavy hands flash multiple times throughout his tape as he was sending DL to the group with just his initial punch. The 2029 OL also has that next level anchor strength to completely stuff any sort of bull rush attempts. The ceiling is sky high for the 2029 OL. Coaches, this is someone you want to have high on your boards and start building that relationship with early. The 2027 OL is a 6'3" 250 lbs athlete who I believe projects as a guard at the next level. Grady is quick out of his stance and at his best working in a phone booth mirroring DL and making the lateral shifts and slides to stay on his man. Grady also flashes the strength to be able to set that anchor and also drive a DL out of a gap. When it comes to Kimberly athletes I always have a very high level of confidence when it comes to weight room development, so I'm confident Grady is at a great point to build on at the next level in terms of strength. The 6'1" 300 lbs junior currently plays OT for Watertown, but I am confident his next level home would be on the interior. The tools for the interior are so evident the more you watch into his tape. Cole is at his best when he can quick set and get his hands on his man and lean on that size and overwhelming power and heavy hands to control his opponent. Get him in those tight quarters and let him manhandle opposing big men. It is great to see that he does have the mobility to get up to level two and also get efficient depth against speed to the outside while playing OT. With a year of high school still to go I am intrigued by Cole and what he could work himself into. The 6'6" 320 lbs senior holds offers from Augustana and Drake currently. The OT has been a key piece to the success and dominance of Plymouth through the first half of this season. Bronx does a great job of using his length to gain contact and then control early in the play. While his upper body is working on control the lower body is doing well moving him and mirroring opponents. The tape also highlights his ability to stay square and maintain or regain his balance when the DL is able to get him off balance. The upper body strength and heavy hands are impossible to ignore on tape too as he seems to throw DL around the trenches. Coaches, we are always on the lookout for those steals. This just might be one of those. Preston is a big IOL, checking in at 6'1" 285 lbs so it is great to see early in the tape that he can down-block quickly and powerfully as well as pull and get outside the tackle and lead up field. The center also has shown really good alertness to pick up blitzing LBs while engaged in double teams against IDLs. His ability to quickly slide laterally and stuff those LBs flying downhill is key to maintaining a clean pocket or to form that wall for his RB to hit the alley behind him. I'll be keeping a close eye on the senior IOL. Spearheading the group is senior center Barrett Tamulion. The 6'2" 275 lbs senior fires out of his stance quickly, low, and with bad intentions. He is a punishing run blocker who doesn't pass up a chance to put defenders into the dirt. Barrett is a powerful athlete and does a really good job of turning his initial quickness into power the second he gets hands on his opponent. His lower body gives him that ability to bulldoze IDL out of gaps and off the line of scrimmage as Barrett and the rest of the OL work to reset the LOS downfield. Barrett also has the feet to be able to work his way to always have the positioning and leverage advantage vs his opponent. The senior holds 11 offers currently.
