SPARTANBURG | Dutch Fork had a bit of a slow start against Ridge View in Week 2.

They made sure to avoid that problem in Week 3.

The Silver Foxes scored on the first play of the game, had a sack on their first defensive snap, and raced to a 14-0 lead as they beat Spartanburg 56-14.

That first play was a beauty, a 45-yard strike from [player_tooltip player_id='1823705' first='Jaxon' last='Knotts'] to a wide-open [player_tooltip player_id='2106772' first='Corey' last='Miller'].

The Silver Foxes don't list a ton of sophomores on their varsity roster. So when you see a guy like Miller make an immediate impact, you tend to trust your eyes.

He's got enough speed to be a legitimate downfield threat, and good enough hands to be a threat in traffic. He found ways to get open against an athletic Spartanburg defense, and was a big factor for Dutch Fork.

The Silver Foxes have a ton of weapons everywhere on offense. For an underclassman like Miller, his presence as a starter tells you more than we can.

"I saw it on film, and I knew they were going to come out in man and take my brother (Maleek)," Miller said. "So I knew it was gonna be wide open. It felt pretty good to get that one."

That was one of two touchdown grabs from Miller in the first half, the other coming in traffic in the end zone and accompanied by a punishing hit. After some discussion, it was ruled that Miller had possession long enough for the score to count.

"I feel like I got two steps in," he said.

That made it 21-7 in the second quarter, and the Silver Foxes pushed it to 28-7 in short order when [player_tooltip player_id='1818414' first='Josiah' last='Robinson'] (pictured) recovered his first of two first-half fumbles to set Dutch Fork up deep in Spartanburg territory. Those two takeaways were among four created by Dutch Fork in the first half. [player_tooltip player_id='1818121' first='Jakobei' last='Allen'] also recovered a fumble and [player_tooltip player_id='1823715' first='Charles' last='Price'] had a leaping interception to stop a Spartanburg drive. They grabbed three more takeaways in the second half, all of which led directly to scores. Robinson returned his third fumble recovery of the night 83 yards for a touchdown, [player_tooltip player_id='2106153' first='Alijah' last='Grupee'] had a 15-yard interception return for a score, and [player_tooltip player_id='1673760' first='BJ' last='Platts'] recovered a fumble that set up a 17-yard score by [player_tooltip player_id='1821111' first='Quintin' last='Wilson'] one play later that made it 49-17 and triggered a running clock.

"Hey, I used to play a little running back freshman year," Robinson said with a laugh. "I started cramping a little bit, but I had to fight for it."

The Dutch Fork defense was huge from the start. [player_tooltip player_id='409882' first='Jaden' last='Wuerth'] had a sack on the first defensive snap of the game, a strip-sack on the last play of the first half, and forced a fumble. Robinson added six tackles to his two takeaways, and the swarming defense held Spartanburg to just 42 yards on the ground.

"We strain in practice every day," Robinson said. "No matter how tired we are. We push, and we keep going."

Despite the first-half margin, the Vikings' defense did a lot of good things early as well. Isiah Johnson and Tmoni Sims combined for a great stop on the goal line. [player_tooltip player_id='1858266' first='Isiah' last='Lipscomb'] came up with a big tackle for loss. [player_tooltip player_id='1816541' first='Jayden' last='Brown'] played good downfield defense on a couple of deep shots. Takorean Kennon blew up a screen that looked sure to go for a big gain early and added a fumble recovery on special teams. And [player_tooltip player_id='1506366' first='RJ' last='Estrich'] had an interception and returned it to the 10-yard line to set up Spartanburg's only first-half score, a TD run by QB [player_tooltip player_id='1579471' first='Aryan' last='Desai'].
