Tie: Brother Rice & Mt. Carmel

This was really too close to go either way so we will share the crown. Brother Rice has the single best player and prospect in the state coming off the edge in [player_tooltip player_id='1052814' first='Kameron' last='McGee']. Most dominant force in high school football. Inside they have the best defensive tackle in [player_tooltip player_id='1334133' first='Brayden' last='Parks'] who is a game wrecker vs both pass and run. Fellow top 10 prospect in 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='2145777' first='Arione' last='Edwards'] is primed to breakout as an edge rusher. Inside they can also throw [player_tooltip player_id='1623489' first='Jeremiah' last='Christian'], [player_tooltip player_id='1585261' first='Braeden' last='Walker'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1508934' first='Tymel' last='Lofton'] at you.

With Mt. Carmel it is hard to ignore the high end talent with four guys in the top 22 overall in their classes including the top two defensive tackles in 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='1682021' first='Caleb' last='Tucker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2325151' first='Emmanuel' last='McMoore'] anchoring up front like a brick wall! Wisconsin commit Darrin Graham and toolsy edge rusher [player_tooltip player_id='1876679' first='Khari' last='Clark'] will get after the QB. Undersized three technique [player_tooltip player_id='1115378' first='Jeremy' last='Harris'] is the x-factor!

East St. Louis

The quartet of the Flyers is pretty tough to beat herewith all of them being top 75 in their class. Seniors [player_tooltip player_id='498273' first='Phillip' last='White'], [player_tooltip player_id='1131012' first='James' last='Bryant'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1131020' first='Makhi' last='Walker'] were the heart of their defense a year ago. Junior [player_tooltip player_id='2140235' first='Omari' last='Hogan'] has some experience with the upside to be a game changer!

Defensive Backs

Mt. Carmel

Close three way race between Brother Rice, Mt. Carmel, and East St. Louis. Slightest edge to Mt. Carmel. Best defensive back in state in [player_tooltip player_id='476341' first='Tavares' last='Harrington'] anchoring them as the Michigan commit has everything you want in a DB. Do it all [player_tooltip player_id='1335208' first='Isaac' last='Saldana'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2104987' first='Brandon' last='Rogers'] give them versatility while Alim Mitchel and [player_tooltip player_id='2174901' first='Mikiel' last='Shannon'] could emerge in 2029.

In Running: Brother Rice, East St. Louis, Belleville East, Cahokia, Wheaton St. Francis, Nazareth, Fenwick, Evanston, Providence Catholic
