They have the best trio of RBs in the region with Sr. [player_tooltip player_id='937241' first='Cole' last='Hachmeister'], Jr. [player_tooltip player_id='1609595' first='Iden' last='Rule'], and Soph. [player_tooltip player_id='2079648' first='Easton' last='Grubb'].. And I have no idea who is going to guard 6-5 Junior TE [player_tooltip player_id='1609596' first='Brady' last='Knips'] and 6-6 Junior WR [player_tooltip player_id='1609636' first='Brock' last='Estes']. Mountainside is solid, and they will compete for a Metro title, but I don't see most teams hanging with Tualatin this year.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#3 Lake Oswego @ #4 Willamette -1&nbsp; <strong>(Willamette 28 Lake Oswego 26)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Some might call it an upset, with Lake O winning last year's state title, but I wouldn't. Willamette is loaded on both sides of the football with Boise St commit [player_tooltip player_id='904208' first='Zeke' last='Thomas'] leading on O and Oregon St LB commit [player_tooltip player_id='791149' first='Kawai' last='Chamberlin'] doing the same on defense.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Steve Coury could very well be Oregon's all-time best coach, but the Lakers graduated some unreal D1 talent in Utah RB LaMarcus Bell, Washington LB Sam Vyhlidal, Iowa St QB Hudson Kurland, and Portland St LB Justin Craigwell. To me it's going to be extremely tough to make up for that.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-12.5 #9 Lakeridge @ North Medford <strong>(Lakeridge 34 North Medford 23)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Everyone knows Lakeridge is young but super talented, graduating 35 guys from last year's roster. North Medford was one of the most deceiving (1-8) teams out there from last season, competing with some of the state's best. I see this being a super close ball game with the Pacers pulling away late.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#6 Nelson @ #8 Grants Pass EVEN&nbsp; &nbsp;<strong>(Grants Pass 37 Nelson 36)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This is an incredibly tough game to call with GP potentially having their best team in years. Record breaking QB [player_tooltip player_id='796694' first='Jordan' last='Rossetta'] has something to prove, and he has two big time weapons back in reigning conference POY [player_tooltip player_id='1560665' first='Brevik' last='Hill'] and super talented RB [player_tooltip player_id='1569379' first='Treyton' last='Powers']. They are fresh off a 6A quarterfinal appearance last year after beating Sherwood on the road in the round of 16.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Nelson is one of the fastest rising programs anywhere in the NW, but they are young and Oregon WR commit [player_tooltip player_id='937176' first='Malachi' last='Garlington'] can only do so much. Grants Pass is a hostile environment and it could be tough for the Hawks. They are typically one of the best teams in Idaho, and they return a bunch of dudes from last year's group.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>That being said, the Foxes feature a young but elite line which all return with [player_tooltip player_id='2105987' first='Mark' last='Bailey'], rising prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2106007' first='Cal' last='Kofstad'], and 6-7 sophomore tackle [player_tooltip player_id='2079649' first='Cade' last='Ellis'], among others. Expect Idaho commit [player_tooltip player_id='1614894' first='Lincoln' last='Keeney'] to have a big night, helping Silverton win by a few scores.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>#11 West Albany @ #2 Mountain View -25.5 <strong>(Mountain View 42 West Albany 13)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This year's Mountain View team is the real deal in my opinion. If I'm picking this year's 5A state title winner right now, they have as good of odds as anyone. The Cougars have the beef up front to control a ball game, along with Washington St TE/DE commit [player_tooltip player_id='1684534' first='Jettson' last='Gillam'] and top RB [player_tooltip player_id='1591745' first='Ryder' last='Carpenter'].&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Bulldogs of West Albany are always a tough matchup and one of the better teams in their conference, but I don't see this being close.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-3.5 #6 Thurston @ Sheldon (6A) <strong>(Thurston 22 Sheldon 20)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1257695' first='Emmit' last='Distefano'] vs [player_tooltip player_id='1539446' first='Ryker' last='Rohaley']. Whichever QB plays better will likely determine the winner here. Distefano returns after earning 1^st&nbsp;team all-conference honors last season, with the Colts also featuring some talented line guys and high-profile junior prospect [player_tooltip player_id='2106040' first='Leofatu' last='Filipe'], who holds a handful of division 1 offers.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As everyone knows, things have changed a lot in the Eugene area with Willamette taking a majority of the players that used to attend Sheldon. This game would mean a lot for the Irish who are looking to get back on track. Expect them to play well and make it close.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>-7.5 #8 Churchill @ #10 Canby<strong>&nbsp; (Churchill 33 Canby 28)&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another tough game to call. Churchill made a run to the state semifinals last year but graduated a bunch of influential athletes who made that happen. The Cougars have been a .500 team the last few seasons, but have some talented kids returning, including 2^nd&nbsp;team all-conference QB [player_tooltip player_id='1939267' first='Brody' last='Joyce'] and state statistical leader [player_tooltip player_id='2088959' first='Cooper' last='Cousin']. This is a big year for Canby to show that they are a legit top 10 team at the 5A level.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
