We're now three weeks away from kickoff in the Sunflower State, and prospects everywhere are back to class and have begun fall practice. While everyone must contain their excitement over the next three weeks, there is one thing to look forward to between now and then.

With summer coming to a close I wanted to wrap up the offseason with one last preseason rankings update. This final update of summer will be for the junior class. The Class of ‘28 has quite a few prospects with serious next-level interest, and there are even more that are breakout candidates this season. Here is a look at six candidates from the offensive side of the ball.

Trenches

We're starting this report off in the trenches. The first of two offensive linemen I'll be highlighting is DeBaun of Blue Valley North. DeBaun was featured earlier this year before summer, and he's had himself a solid offseason. He was a camp showcase standout in June, and added a bit of size as well. The BVN product is an athletic lineman capable of playing multiple positions and still has plenty of room to grow.

The next hog is Johnson of Beloit. He's one of the more underrated OL prospects in this class, but he's primed to put folks on notice this season. Johnson is a solid 6-foot-2, 300-pound interior linemen that plays with great physicality. His brute strength comes from his hard work in the weight room. He's recorded a 385-pound bench press max and a 555-pound squat max. Look for him to be an All-League caliber player.

Skill Positions

McGlinn of St. Thomas Aquinas starts off the skill position section. He put together a strong audition for the lead back role toward the end of his sophomore season. Even if he isn't necessarily the lead back this season, Aquinas' run heavy scheme should present many opportunities for the junior. He's more than capable of turning those opportunities into big numbers.

Another EKL RB that is poised to take on a larger role is Watskey of Bishop Miege. I mentioned back in May that Watskey has the potential of being one of Miege's top offensive weapons this season, and I'm standing by that. He's a back with great vision, which allows him to find creases to break off a big gains. Watskey is sure to be heavily utilized this fall.

The Thunder of St. James are set to field a dangerous passing attack with multiple key starters returning. However, one prospect that could emerge from the passing catching group is [player_tooltip player_id='2180099' first='Cooper' last='Most']. He may not have the varsity experience, but he is without a doubt a playmaker. If given the opportunity, he could definitely build a strong connection with [player_tooltip player_id='1970828' first='John' last='Hornback'].

Lastly there's the versatile [player_tooltip player_id='1626551' first='Carter' last='Wagner'] of Olathe Northwest. He was recently regrouped as an ATH, as he's received reps at tight end and safety this summer. That's not to say he still can't have success as a QB. It's more of a compliment to the fact that he's capable of having success at multiple positions. I'm personally excited to see how the Ravens' staff uses him.

We're now three weeks away from kickoff in the Sunflower State, and prospects everywhere are back to class and have begun fall practice. While everyone must contain their excitement over the next three weeks, there is one thing to look forward to between now and then.
