Defenders Who Made Plays in Week 1

EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='2083730' first='Jaxson' last='Hutton'] (Providence Catholic – 2029)   The beast has been unleashed as one of the top edge rushers in the 2029 class early on did what he is best at bringing the QB down for 3 sacks in week one while recording 9 tackles.   EDGE Mysonne Okuesa (St. Patrick – 2027)   Under recruited edge player who had 5 tackles, 2 TFL, and 1 QB pressure in week 1.   EDGE Izeis Archer (Normal Community – 2029)   The edge player from Normal is a sophomore that is intriguing as a dual threat pass rusher/linebacker.  He had 7 tackles, 2 TFL, and batted down a pass.  Also blocked a punt and took it in for a score.   EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1732513' first='Easton' last='Ripke'] (Plainfield South – 2027)   The 6'3” edge recorded 13.5 tackles, 4 TFL, 1 sack, and sealed the win with a fumble recovery against Pekin.   EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='2105082' first='Ethan' last='Brooks'] (Wheaton Academy – 2027)   Brooks had a big outing in the opener with two sacks, two TFL, 7 pressures, and 8 tackles.   EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='1570788' first='Micah' last='Welch'] (Johnsburg – 2027)   Johnsburg edge had 8 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, and 1 interception in an impressive week 1 outing!   EDGE Amaree Daniels (Batavia – 2027)   Daniels popped as a 6'0” end that had 3 tackles along with a pair of pressures on the QB.   EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='2209955' first='Tyler' last='Harris'] (Wheaton St. Francis – 2027)   The 6'0” edge player had 6 total tackles, 1 fumble recovery, 0.5 sacks, and a pair of QB pressures in week 1.   DL [player_tooltip player_id='1958007' first='Alijah' last='Martin'] (Moline – 2027)   Continued to be intrigued with the physical and athletic tools of the Moline defensive lineman who had 3 tackles, 2 TFLs, and 1 QB pressure.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='2140316' first='Jace' last='Schaack'] (Rockford Jefferson – 2028)   The junior racked up 11 tackles including two sacks, five TFL, 3 QB hurries, and a fumble recovery.   LB Gavin McKelvie (Batavia – 2028)   The 6'0” linebacker racked up 10 tackles along with 4 QB hurries in the first week of action against Maine South.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='1328984' first='Austin' last='Collins'] (Lincoln Way West – 2027)   Middle linebacker from LWW is a ball hawk reading opponents and diagnosing what they are going to do.  Tackles very well in space and is effective in coverage over the middle tipping a ball for an interception.  Changes directions and can really run.   LB Rowan Lindsay (Glenbrook South – 2027)   Big game for the senior with 10 tackles, 1 TFL, and zero completions given up at the second level of the defense.   LB Ryan Haefke (Hersey – 2027)   The senior linebacker had 13 total tackles and 1 sack.  Also had 1 PBU and 1 TFL.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='1764862' first='Dylan' last='Souder'] (Breese Mater Dei – 2029)   The sophomore linebacker is super productive as he had 9 tackles including a pair of TFLs in their first game.   LB Logan Feigl (West Aurora – 2029)   The 6'0” linebacker had four tackles, 1 forced fumble, and 1 PBU against DGS.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='2169776' first='Hendryx' last='Goetz'] (Oak Lawn – 2027)   Goetz 9 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 forced fumble, and 1 sack against Wheeling.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='2140316' first='Jace' last='Schaack'] (Rockford Jefferson – 2028)   The linebacker racked up 11 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 QB pressures, and 1 fumble recovery.   LB Christian Walsh (Oswego – 2028)   Walsh is an explosive defender that flies all over the field as he had 8 tackles and a sack on the first night.   LB [player_tooltip player_id='1344909' first='Noah' last='Swaw'] (Tinley Park – 2027)   One of the more productive backers in the 2027 class he had 16 tackles, 2 TFL, 3 hurries, and 1 PBU in the opener.   DB [player_tooltip player_id='1719142' first='Travell' last='Williams'] (TF South – 2027)   The rangy corner was impactful in game one with 3 TFL, 1 PBU and also had a catch on offense for 20 yards.   DB [player_tooltip player_id='613744' first='Chase' last='Bradley'] (Cahokia – 2027)   Bradley is a uber skilled and toolsy defensive back that can also lay the hammer.  He was targeted three times and all three were batted away in addition to making three tackles.   DB [player_tooltip player_id='1562266' first='Earnest' last='Winters'] (Cahokia – 2029)   No fly zone against this playmaking safety who has some Ed Reed in his game!  8 tackles, 1 sack, and wasn't thrown at once!   DB Troy Gushi (Minooka – 2029)   The 5'9” defensive back had a nice all-around game on the JV squad with 3 PBUs, 1 forced fumble, and 3 tackles.   DB Jared Kay (Woodstock – 2027)   The defensive back recorded an interception, 4 PBUs, and 8 tackles.  On offense he threw a 39 yard touchdown pass.   DB [player_tooltip player_id='2227122' first='Cruz' last='Evans'] (Chatham Glenwood – 2027)   The free safety helped his tock in the offseason and came out with a solid first game recording 6 tackles vs Normal West.   DB [player_tooltip player_id='2002992' first='Antwon' last='Haley'] Jr (Rockford Jefferson – 2028)   Impressive game for the Jefferson defensive back with a 45 yard pick 6, another PBU, and 3 total tackles.
