EASLEY | In their final tuneup before their junior seasons begin next week, Daniel quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1094520' first='Jace' last='Grass'] and receiver [player_tooltip player_id='1467841' first='Trey' last='Wimbley'] looked like seasoned veterans Friday night. Wimbley (pictured) caught six passes for 135 yards and a touchdown as the Lions finished off the Green Wave Jamboree with a 21-0 victory over Easley.

Despite Grass playing his freshman year at Pendleton before coming back to Daniel last year, there's a reason why it looks like he's been playing with Wimbley for years. It's because they have.

"Me and Jace go way back from before I even moved to South Carolina. Our dads hooked us up and we've hit it off ever since," Wimbley said. "Our relationship translates to the field 100 percent. Our chemistry is great."

Daniel opened the nightcap with a 13-play drive that was anything but methodical. Wimbley caught Grass' first three passes of the night, before [player_tooltip player_id='1678262' first='Emmanuel' last='Major'] caught the next two and [player_tooltip player_id='1823486' first='Jeremih' last='Brown']-Wallace the next. Brown-Wallace's 21-yard reception set up an [player_tooltip player_id='1819126' first='Andrew' last='Anderson'] 10-yard touchdown run.

On the Lions' next possession, Wimbley had back-to-back receptions of 47 and 16 yards on the first two plays. On the third, [player_tooltip player_id='1608532' first='Kingsten' last='Bibb'] scored from six yards out.

Daniel closed out the scoring when Grass delivered a 46-yard bomb to Wimbley.

"He put it right where I wanted it," Wimbley said.

Grass finished with 194 yards on 10-of-13 passing for the Lions, who outgained the Green Wave 245-54. Daniel also got a big special teams play when [player_tooltip player_id='1172351' first='PJ' last='Chancellor'] returned a punt 54 yards to the Easley 18-yard line.

The Green Wave's longest play was a 13-yard pass from [player_tooltip player_id='1817256' first='Whitley' last='Rodgers'] to Chase Wimpey, who did a great job of hanging on to the ball as Daniel's John Justice delivered a huge hit.

Pickens 21, Pendleton 0

If they awarded MVPs after jamborees, Pickens senior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1581467' first='Brooks' last='Dow'] could've contended for that honor. After the Blue Flame forced a three-and-out, their first play on offense saw Dow fake a shotgun handoff and take off up the gut for a 65-yard touchdown.

On Pickens next possession, [player_tooltip player_id='1823740' first='Cam' last='Wilson'] slid over from receiver to quarterback and ran the same play resulting in a 22-yard gain. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1708840' first='David' last='Bolden'] scampered for 24 yards two plays later, which helped set up a six-yard touchdown run by Dow.

Dow capped his big night on the Blue Flame's next possession when he connected with [player_tooltip player_id='1821136' first='Harrison' last='Clark'] on a 51-yard touchdown.

Pickens didn't allow a first down and outgained the Bulldogs, 207-29. Dow finished with 79 yards rushing on three carries and completed 2-of-3 passes for 57 yards, while Bolden ran four times for 40 yards. [player_tooltip player_id='1823746' first='Nate' last='Taylor'] led the Blue Flame's defensive effort with a sack and a pass breakup, while [player_tooltip player_id='1823748' first='Issac' last='Arnold'] added an interception for the scrimmage's lone turnover.

Pendleton's [player_tooltip player_id='1820877' first='Sam' last='Jennings'] caught three passes for 17 yards.

Liberty 28, Berea 0

Liberty got things started in a big way on both sides of the ball. The Red Devils rolled up 259 yards of total offense on 22 plays, while limiting Berea to 14 yards on 18 plays.

The Bulldogs actually came up with one of the first big plays of the night. After runs of 12 and 23 yards, respectively, by the Red Devils' [player_tooltip player_id='1825182' first='Cullen' last='Spence'], the ball was ripped loose. Berea sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1816234' first='Isaiah' last='Griffin'] recovered the fumble and returned it 16 yards to the Liberty 39-yard line.

The Red Devils forced a three-and-out and it was all Liberty from then on. A 44-yard run by [player_tooltip player_id='1715549' first='Kameron' last='Owens'] set up the first of three touchdown passes by [player_tooltip player_id='1823934' first='Easton' last='Bell']. Bell hit fellow sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1823925' first='Trevan' last='Green'] on a 13-yard score.

In the second quarter, a 30-yard run by Liberty sophomore Orion Austin set up a 27-yard touchdown run by Spence. Spence withstood a huge hit at the 15 before regaining his footing and scooting to the end zone. Bell closed out the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown pass to [player_tooltip player_id='1663728' first='Caiden' last='Blassingame'] and a 15-yard scoring strike to sophomore Lavonte Henderson.

Liberty's defense got an interception from sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1823923' first='Porter' last='Boynton'] that was set up when [player_tooltip player_id='1824911' first='Zane' last='Smith'] drilled Berea quarterback Jayvon King as he threw.

Bell completed 6-of-10 passes for 91 yards for the Red Devils. Owens had 60 yards on three carries, while Spence had 55 on four attempts and Austin ran three times for 48 yards. Green was the top receiver with 43 yards on two catches.

If any one play highlighted Daniel's outstanding defensive effort Friday night, Oglesby provided it.
