2029 Duo Jakobe Baldwin and Donnel Sallis Stock Soaring Early

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><em>***Use Code “ScottyB30” for 30% off your subscription***</em><br><br>Two of the breakout 2029 players early in the season we were lucky enough to see in person week 1.&nbsp; They are IC Catholic sophomore sensations running back <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2206173' first='Jakobe' last='Baldwin']</strong> and athlete <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2174810' first='Donnel' last='Sallis']</strong>.&nbsp; Both were super impactful in that game while showcasing tools that translate long term to the next level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2206173' first='Jakobe' last='Baldwin'] was a truck all night against Nazareth as a 6'1” 185 pound back with good size, strength, and speed.&nbsp; Powerful runner who has vision in the hole making quick cuts and had defenders bouncing off him all evening.&nbsp; Ripped off a 65 yard TD late to seal the win showing off his long speed dashing down the sideline.&nbsp; Quality athlete who has some pass catching ability showcasing natural hands.&nbsp; Finished the game with 202 yards on the ground with 242 all purpose and a pair of scores.&nbsp; Currently checks in at #44 overall and #4 running back in the class.&nbsp; Both of those are skyrocketing!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“I am a power and elusive back that can do a lot of things being able to catch out of the backfield and be an athlete.&nbsp; Really anything the coach asks me to do.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Anything going on with recruiting early in the process?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“Right now I have zero offers.&nbsp; I have interest from Nebraska and Iowa.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Then we look at two way athlete [player_tooltip player_id='2174810' first='Donnel' last='Sallis'] who plays cornerback and wide receiver.&nbsp; Caught one pass in the game we saw, but it was his play as a jumbo corner that jumped off the field to us.&nbsp; Fluid hips, breaks on the ball, and has the ball skills on the backend including snatching an interception.&nbsp; Also had a nice PBU on a slant route over the middle.&nbsp; Not only does he have the physical tools, but the instincts.&nbsp; We caught up with the #36 overall ranked player in class currently to discuss the performance against Nazareth including what he saw on that interception.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“I seen that my man went in so I dropped back and seen the dude coming around and picked it off.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>How would he describe his game as a defensive back?</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“I think I have good length and recovery speed.&nbsp; I can break on the ball well.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sallis already holds a pair of Big 10 offers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“I currently hold two offers right now from Iowa and Nebraska.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
