2028 Offensive Standouts in Kentucky with Offers

Any high school football player's junior season arguably sets the tone for their college recruitment. These offensive standouts across the Bluegrass have already proven to schools that they can play at the next level, having fielded offers before their junior season. Let's take a look:    [player_tooltip player_id='1604542' first='William' last='Shoptaw'] transferred from Hazard to St. Xavier for his junior season. During his sophomore season at Hazard, Shoptaw really impressed me with his footwork and vision downfield. He never gets caught flat-footed and is a threat to take off from the pocket on any play. He throws hard and is accurate on the run, but most of all, he doesn't panic under pressure. He stands tall in the pocket, steps into his throws, and finds the open man. Shoptaw is a playmaker with the ball in his hands, and most of all, he doesn't rush himself. As a result, Shoptaw has offers from EKU and Miami (OH). However, now that he's at a school like St. Xavier, he'll be getting a lot more exposure in 2026.     [player_tooltip player_id='2066932' first='Malachi' last='Kennedy'] is the kind of running back who hits his holes with confidence and takes care of the football. Kennedy has the look of a tailback at the next level, and plays like it, too. He is at his best when he can bounce to the outside and try to take the edge on the defense. He has long strides and a strong lower body, which help him break loose and/or low-effort tackles. Kennedy currently holds offers from the likes of FDU-Florham and the Salt Lake Yetis. I expect more schools to establish interest over the next calendar year.     [player_tooltip player_id='2105821' first='Nick' last='Greer'] plays center for LCA in Lexington. He has an impressive first step, where he's explosive and stays low before laying into his assignment. This is evident in his 5.1 40-yard dash, which is impressive for his size and age. Greer communicates well with his teammates along the offensive line. He's aggressive off the snap shows a ton of effort post-snap. He is often still blocking his man when the play is already downfield. Greer currently holds one Division I offer, which he earned from EKU back in June.     [player_tooltip player_id='1274991' first='Deion' last='Davidson'] is a twitchy tailback who possesses great speed and agility for Kentucky Country Day. When he gets into the open field, Davidson can find a second burst to help beat the entire defense. KCD likes to use him in motion and utilizes his speed to his advantage, getting outside quickly. Davidson's speed doesn't deter his patience, as he follows his blocks to find the open field. He also has good hands and has demonstrated his ability to catch the ball in contested situations. Davidson holds one offer entering his junior year, and it's from Miami (OH).     [player_tooltip player_id='2066970' first='Zach' last='Thomas'] is a 6'2", 195-pound wide receiver from Corbin. He's an excellent route-runner who is fantastic when trying to catch the ball in traffic. He has a natural ability to catch the ball over his shoulder on deep balls without breaking stride. He also has good balance and is aggressive/physical post-snap. Thomas is best at being used as a deep threat, as he averaged 22.5 yards per reception in 2025. He finished this past season with 26 receptions for 584 yards and six touchdowns. Thomas holds two Division I offers: Memphis and Army.
