The coaching change also brings a fresh feel to the program as Joey Besl takes over and looks to build on that late-season success. Wyoming East graduated a very small senior class, leaving the bulk of last year's roster back in 2026 with another year of experience that will benefit the 2026 squad. The program hasn't made the playoffs since 2019, but the combination of a new coaching staff, improved participation, and a roster that returns nearly intact gives them reason for optimism. Wyoming East lost only a handful of seniors from last year's team, although some of those players were important contributors, and the continuity should greatly benefit this year's team. Shrewsbury plays with a physical edge and competes on every snap, making him one of the top linemen for the Warriors. He does a good job getting into his blocks and staying engaged through the whistle. Hatfield is a multi-year starter who brings valuable experience to an offensive line that Wyoming East believes can be one of the strengths of the team this season. We haven't gotten updated film on him since his sophomore year, but his quickness for a lineman stands out and should fit well in the new offense. Hatfield can pull and get moving in space, giving the Warriors a way to take advantage of his strengths as a blocker. Wood brings a big 6'5 260 frame and the athleticism to be useful in multiple roles, with his long-term future likely on either side of the line. He'll be another key blocker alongside a veteran offensive line while still seeing opportunities as a pass catcher when Wyoming East wants to take advantage of his athleticism. Ashley is a vocal leader who also leads by example, and his presence has been a big part of the progress Wyoming East has made with its young roster. He'll see plenty of work at running back this season while also moving around defensively, with more snaps at linebacker expected this season along with his usual defensive line prowess. Huffman brings the speed and quickness to be the lightning to Grayson Ashley's thunder in the backfield and will see significant touches at running back this season. He can still be used at receiver, giving Wyoming East another way to get the ball into his hands. Huffman has also gotten bigger and stronger since last season, which will help him handle the added workload.
