A mix of experienced seniors and promising young players gives head coach Matt Peery a group better equipped to compete throughout the year. The progress may not always show up in the win column right away, but there are signs the program is moving in the right direction. Curtis threw for 500 yards as a junior and rushed for 400 yards, finishing as the Red Devils' second-leading rusher. His athleticism gives the offense another dimension, allowing him to create with his legs and make accurate throws when moving outside the pocket. Curtis also added 56 tackles at linebacker last season, showing the toughness and athletic ability to make an impact defensively as well. He added 18 tackles as a starting safety, showing two-way ability. Williams is a punishing guard who brings powerful hands and the quickness to pull and move effectively in the running game. He also made an impact defensively as a junior with 34 tackles and two sacks from his defensive line spot. Patterson is a physically gifted 6'2 225 athlete who is expected to start at both running back and linebacker this fall. He has yet to produce film, but the physical tools are there for a huge junior season if he can stay healthy. Rhodes led the Red Devils in rushing with more than 500 yards and three touchdowns, giving them a reliable option in the backfield as a sophomore. He also made his mark defensively with 45 tackles and a team-high 5 sacks at linebacker. Stutler made his biggest impact at corner while also seeing some time at receiver, taking his lumps at a difficult position for a first-year player but learning valuable lessons. He plays hard and consistently works to overcome his physical limitations, giving the Red Devils a player they can continue developing.
