Logan took a major step forward in Nick Booth's first season as head coach, putting together its first winning campaign and playoff appearance since 2022. The Wildcats ultimately saw their season end in the opening round against a strong Doddridge County squad, but the year represented meaningful progress for the program. With confidence growing and many key contributors returning, Logan enters 2026 looking to build on the momentum created during Booth's successful debut season.

2026 OUTLOOK

Replacing a talented starting quarterback along with several other productive contributors won't be easy, but Logan returns enough talent to feel confident heading into 2026. The Wildcats have one of the state's premier athletes to build around in TE Lucas Lambert, along with a talented supporting cast of skill players capable of keeping the offense on track. Experience returning across the roster should help ease the transition at quarterback while giving Logan another opportunity to compete near the top of Class AA. The expectation is for the Wildcats to return to the playoffs and put themselves in position to chase the first postseason victory in program history.

Adding 2027 TE/DL Jake Endicott to the team gives Logan an experienced two-way player with proven success. The former Man standout heads to the Wildcats after an impressive three years at the Class A level and already holds an offer from Glenville State. Endicott has the versatility to contribute immediately on both sides of the ball, bringing a physical presence at tight end while giving Logan another disruptive body along the defensive front. His experience and production should make him one of the Wildcats' top contributors as they look to build on last year's momentum.

Logan has a potential breakout receiver returning in 2027 WR Gage Green. The lengthy wideout totaled just under 300 receiving yards and three touchdowns as a junior, showing natural ability to track the football and come down with contested catches. Green's size and strong ball skills make him a reliable target in traffic and a difficult matchup for defensive backs on 50/50 balls. With a larger role in the offense this season and staying healthy, expect Green to build on last year's production and emerge as one of the Wildcats' top playmakers.

The younger brother of former Wildcats standout Rob Ball, Jack has developed into a standout two-way lineman in his own right and is expected to start on both sides of the ball again as a senior. Ball combines good size with athleticism, giving Logan another disruptor in the trenches. He also produced 35 tackles and 3 sacks as a junior, as a two-way anchor on the line.
2028 TE Lucas Lambert gives Logan one of the most gifted athletes in the state to build its offense around. The standout tight end continues to attract college attention after picking up his first D1 offers from Marshall and Navy, with more coming. Lambert's rare combination of size and athleticism allows him to create matchup problems all over the field, and he moves exceptionally well for a player with his frame. He'll be a focal point of the Wildcats' offense this season and is one of the state's top prospects to watch over the next two years.

Logan's talented 2028 class features another name to know in LB Bentley Williamson. The 6'3 195 three-sport athlete stepped into a starting role as a sophomore and responded by finishing third on the team with 72 tackles, quickly becoming one of the Wildcats' top defenders. Williamson has the frame and athleticism that project well at the next level, and his upside extends beyond football as a legitimate baseball prospect. With another offseason of development behind him, expect Williamson to take another step forward and continue emerging as one of Logan's defensive leaders.

Another explosive weapon returns for Logan this season with 2028 WR Alfonzo Murphy. The sophomore emerged as the Wildcats' second-leading receiver behind Lucas Lambert, finishing with nearly 600 receiving yards and three touchdowns while averaging more than 21 yards per catch. Murphy's length and athleticism make him a dangerous matchup from the slot, whether he's stretching the field vertically or turning quick throws into explosive gains after the catch. If Logan's new quarterback settles in, expect Murphy's production to increase as he has the tools to have a breakout junior season.

One of the more intriguing long-term prospects on Logan's roster is 2028 ATH/LB Caleb Johnson. Johnson saw valuable varsity time at linebacker as a sophomore and has the tools to take on a much larger role this season. He already possesses the 6'3 220 size that will catch the attention of college coaches and has a high ceiling as a prospect. He's also in the mix at quarterback and could provide a different look there than Greg Williams. Johnson is a moldable athlete whose best football is ahead of him and an exciting players to watch develop over the next two seasons.

One of the more intriguing storylines at Logan this season is the arrival of 2029 ATH/QB Greg Williams. The former Belfry (KY) product enters camp in the mix for the Wildcats' starting quarterback job, giving the coaching staff a different look behind center than they had last season. Williams is a gifted athlete who can impact the game in multiple ways, and if he earns the job, he'll add another dimension with his ability to extend plays and create plays with his legs. Regardless of how the quarterback competition unfolds, Williams has the talent and long-term upside to become an important piece of Logan's program over the next three seasons at multiple positions.
