In this report, we are taking a quick look at three receivers and a couple of young-gun QBs, starting off with a couple of Thunderbird wideouts and a long hybrid receiver from Aquinas, followed up by a couple of playmaker dual-threat QB's who have been flying under the radar so far .

So, without further adieu, let's check out why these guys are ready for the next step:

With good length, a standout catch radius and the burst to drive separation, he is one of the top receivers for the Thunderbird's air attack. Last fall he lined up split wide or in the slot and was a weapon running precise routes and making the the tough, contested catches over the middle or torching teams deep on the long ball. When the season ended he went right into wrestling and just wrapped up track taking 4th in the 4x4 at state. He has also been busy lifting and doing speedwork and the effort is paying off as he has put on 15 pounds with a 40 in the 4.5 range. This spring he had a number of junior-day visits and has been on the camp circuit this summer getting ready. This baller is going to burn it up this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1612255' first='Carter' last='Kamanda'] , 5'11, 175, WR/DB, Shawnee Heights, '28, up first for the juniors and another standout Thunderbird WR, this guy is a talented playmaker who is looking to bounce back from injuries to display his high-ceiling game this fall. Last year his season was shortened by injury, but when available showcased his skills with 6 receptions for 170 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 28+ yards per catch, had 7 tackles on defense and added 139 yards in special team returns. This year he was off to a great start powering through the off-season grind, but recently suffered a setback, injuring a hip flexor and limiting summer activities somewhat. In the meantime he has been working with a physical therapist and lifting hard to make sure he is ready to help the team by the opener in September. This versatile, 3-sport athlete is an asset on both sides of the ball and once healthy will be ready to deliver in all 3 phases of the game this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1845220' first='Aiden' last='Ceccoli'], 6'4, 185, WR/TE, Aquinas, '28, up next for the juniors is a playmaker wide receiver who has been flying under the radar somewhat but has had an excellent off-season training and aggressively hitting the camp circuit to showcase his game. He is a 6'4, hybrid receiver who can play in tight, flex out in the slot or split wide and force mismatches with his next-level catch radius and 76" wing span. He has had a very productive June starting off with good camp performances at Minnesota and St John's (MN) the first week, and later in the month went to Drake and Kansas University where I first saw him performing well in the one-on-one competition and putting his reach and ability to high-point the ball on display. His work is paying off as he has put on 15 pounds and grown an inch and is faster and quicker than he was a year ago. This guy has not been getting much attention yet but that is getting ready to change this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='2070046' first='Declan' last='Schepis'], 5'11, 165, QB, Kapaun, '29, first up for the QBs and the only sophomore in the report is a rising-star dual-threat quarterback who was fortunate to see how a varsity team wins a state championship in his freshman season. He got busy after the season was over lifting and training with Coach Tabor and PIA and has been fine-tuning his QB skills in 7v7 playing for the Wichita Wheat. Earlier this spring he was on a roll, as he helped lead his team to the 15U-title at the Elite7evens Tournament in Wichita and then the following weekend had a standout performance at the T-Town Showdown in Tulsa, throwing 9 TD passes to zero interceptions. He has also been showcasing his game on the camp circuit in between 7v7 play with impressive performances at Kansas State and the recent Sharp Performance camp. With a strong off-season underway and training hard with Coach Tabor this guy is gaining momentum and ready for the next step.

Alex Rose, 6'2, 190, QB/DB, Moundridge (xfer from Clearwater), '28, and last but certainly not least, we have another dual-threat quarterback who has been flying under the radar so far due to moving around but now that he has landed in Moundridge he should have the foundation in place to deliver in the coming years. With ideal size, quickness and athleticism, he can excel on both sides of the ball and will play free safety this fall as well as QB. He has been locked in with his new teammates in the off-season training program, hitting the weights hard and doing speedwork. The team has already attended one camp and will have another team camp and scrimmages coming up later in July at Bethel College in North Newton, as they gear up to play state champion Sterling in the season opener. He has also spent the last few months training under David Akao at NPWR Training in Wichita to help further fine-tune his game and is also playing summer basketball. Get this guy on your watchlists this fall.
