Summer Scouting Spotlight: Top Underclassmen Difference-Makers

There aren't many camps and not many games to attend right now, but that doesn't mean we at Prep Red Zone are sitting on our hands. On the contrary, we are hard at work. All throughout the summer, we'll be taking a look at some top returning starters and young prospects who will make a big impact as the season rolls around this fall, spotlighting several prospects. Here is our summer scouting spotlight:    CJ Wells is a Class of 2029 receiver for Westerville North. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect is a playmaker who can create on his own in space. Wells can take handoffs to the house, and after-the-catch, he is a legitimate threat to go the distance. I see Wells' fit in college as an inside receiver, but he could grow into an X/Z depending on how tall he gets. Either way, he is a big name to monitor in the coming years.     Grant Dorsey has a lot of upside. A left-tackle on either junior varsity or the freshman team, I would expect him to grow immensely in his role. Dorsey has a solid first step off the line of scrimmage. He is a bulldozer in the run game, overwhelming opposing defenders with his size and strength. He has good hand placement and strike timing to drive defenders off the ball. At 6-foot-5, 280 pounds and as a Class of 2029 prospect, the sky is the limit with his potential.     Jordan Crider out of Edgewood flashes the goods to be a high-impact player for St. Ignatius this fall. Good mover, puller and run blocker who can drive his feet on contact, latch on and take defenders for a ride. Good height, size, frame and play strength. Honor roll student, very smart, good hand use, keep hands tight and close with good punch.     Justin Martin-falls is a safety prospect for Pickerington Central. A Class of 2029 defensive back with high upside, Martin-falls has the frame and arm length desired in a Division I recruit with plenty of time and room to grow. Martin-falls takes great angles to the ball and is a strong wrap-up tackler. He is very instinctive and flashes solid closing speed. Keep an eye on his development.
