Regent Prep Rams OK 2026 Team Preview

This is something that began for us at PRZ-Oklahoma in 2021 and it continues to get bigger and better every single year. They were coming off their first season as an 11-man football program in 2024 and they made it all the way to the A-2 semifinals. In 2025, they were a top ten team heading into the season but this would be a season that was headlined by a few things. Injuries to key players and close games that went either way would be the two bigger storylines from the 2025 campaign. Regent started 2-0 but then dropped two straight to Morrison and Liberty. In October, they lost three games and had to survive overtime in week ten just to punch their ticket to the playoffs. During the regular season, six of their ten games were decided by ten points or less. Five of those games were one possession games. They were 2-3 in the one possession games and that is certainly a stat that could go either way from year to year. The Rams had to go on the road to face Hominy in the first round of the playoffs and the season came to an end there. The Rams would finish off the 2025 season with a 5-6 record. We can't help but wonder “what if” when we look back at the 2025 Rams. If they had been healthy for a full season, what would those one possession games look like? But that's the nature of sports. But as the page turns on one season and we start looking towards the next year coming up, the Rams expect to be right back in the mix for not only the district title but much more in 2026.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2026 OUTLOOK</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Regent Prep is once again a top ten team heading into this season. They bring back half of their starters from last year's team. But because of the injuries to various players, that number isn't the whole story as they bring back more players that have experience and won't be brand new to starting on Friday nights. For the Rams, as always, it's going to start on the offensive side of the ball. They bring back a senior quarterback that got plenty of experience last season. He's the ultimate run-throw quarterback that Regent has had so much success with over the last decade. He brings back plenty of skill players around him for an offense that averaged a little over 30 points per game last season. Defensively, the Rams also bring back half of their starters and they will look to avoid getting into some of the shootouts we saw last season. But if you look at the last several years, they've been no stranger to high-scoring affairs. The Rams find themselves in a new district this season with a handful of new opponents. But the district is still headlined by the defending state champions from Talihina. Regent will certainly have that game circled on their schedule. But when we look at the 2026 Rams, we think this is a team that can end up going on a run. If they avoid that injury bug and some of those one score games go their way, we could see them make a run to the semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons. Regent Prep has made the transition to 11-man look easy. He finished with 51 catches for nearly 800 yards and eight touchdowns. And we got a chance to see Huerta several times throughout the offseason at our showcase events and 7v7 tournaments. Every time we watched Huerta in person, he was making play after play. He is an unbelievably reliable pass target and everything points to him having a monster junior season. Defensively, Johnson will be making plenty of plays from the linebacker position. But it's on offense where he can really start to shine. Johnson will be one half of a two-headed monster at the running back position. Last season, he was the leading running back with carries and yards on the ground. He also led the team in rushing touchdowns. He's the ultimate dual-threat weapon for Regent Prep and when you look at this team's history, they usually have a lot of success with run-pass threats like Brookover. The senior signal caller actually led the team in rushing last season. Emerson was expected to be a big part of their offensive line last season but he missed the season with a shoulder injury. But now, he's healthy and ready to be the leader of the offensive line. From the center position, everything on the line of scrimmage will start with Emerson and he'll help some of Regent Prep's new starters come along quicker. Last season, Casey was second on the team in every receiving category behind Huerta. And just like with him, it wouldn't be surprising to see Casey's production go up this season. With Regent Prep having a little more continuity at the quarterback position, it should make for an easier 2026 campaign. Casey finished last season with 44 catches for nearly 800 yards and five touchdowns. He had some of his better games against the tougher opponents. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>MORE NAMES TO KNOW</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Eli Peters - 2027 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back<br>Freddy Calvani - 2029 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back<br>Micah Johnson - 2028 Wide Receiver<br>Oakes Abbott - 2029 Offensive/Defensive Lineman<br>Owen Spear - 2028 Offensive/Defensive Lineman<br>Silas Smallwood - 2027 Running Back</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>2026 SCHEDULE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Aug. 28th - AT Kellyville</strong><br>- The 2026 football season kicks off with a trip to Kellyville in week zero. We mentioned earlier how there were some new district opponents on the schedule this season. Kellyville is also going to be a new opponent for the Rams. These two teams have never played on the football field before. Kellyville is coming off a rare playoff appearance last year.<br><strong>Sept. 11th - Summit Christian</strong><br>- After a week off, Regent Prep has their home opener against Summit Christian in week two. These two teams have met in each of the last five seasons. The Rams come into this season with a five-game winning streak against Summit Christian. That includes last year's 57-6 victory. They both made the move from 8-man to 11-man football at the same time.<br><strong>Sept. 18th - AT Fairland</strong><br>- The non-district slate wraps up in week three with a trip to Fairland in another match-up that will be a first for Regent Prep. These two teams have never met in football and it's a match-up of two teams that expect big things in 2026. The Rams look to reload for another semifinal run while Fairland looks to make it back to the semis for the second straight year.<br><strong>Sept. 25th - Central Sallisaw</strong><br>- Regent Prep's district slate opens up with a home game against Central Sallisaw in week four. These two have been district opponents since the Rams moved up to 11-man football in 2024 and it's been a back and forth series. Central Sallisaw won the first meeting in 2024 but the Rams repaid the favor last year with a 28-18 victory.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 2nd - AT Porter</strong><br>- The Rams head to Porter in week five in the first meeting between these two programs. Porter is new to the district this season and they are going to be hungry to turn things around. They are looking for their first winning season in a decade. They are coming off back to back seasons where they went 1-9 on the year.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 9th - Gore</strong><br>- The Rams return home in week six to host Gore and these two are definitely familiar with one another. They've played in each of the last two seasons after Regent moved up to 11-man football. The Rams won the first meeting in 2024 with ease but last year's game was a high-scoring dog fight. The Pirates prevailed 46-39 last season.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 15th - AT Mounds</strong><br>- On a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven, the Rams go back on the road to face Mounds. These two have been district opponents in each of the last two seasons and Regent Prep has found plenty of success in this series. In their first meeting, the Rams won 56-40. Last season, it was more of a dominant win as they prevailed 48-6 over Mounds.<br><strong>Oct. 23rd - AT Liberty</strong><br>- The Rams go on the road for the second straight week here as they travel to Liberty in week eight. This is another opponent that the Rams have faced in each of the last two years after moving up to 11-man football. The Rams won the first meeting 48-37 but Liberty got the best of Regent Prep last season, winning 22-14 in 2025.&nbsp;<br><strong>Oct. 30th - Talihina</strong><br>- Regent Prep's final home game of the regular season comes in week nine when they welcome in the defending state champs from Talihina. These two have been district foes in each of the last two years. Regent Prep won 41-26 in their first meeting but Talihina won 40-13 last season, on their way to an undefeated season and state championship.&nbsp;<br><strong>Nov. 6th - AT Drumright</strong><br>- It's a renewal of an old 8-man football rivalry in week ten as Regent Prep travels to face Drumright to wrap up the regular season. These two teams met every year from 2020-2023 as 8-man programs. Regent Prep has a 3-1 advantage in the series and all three wins were dominant. But Drumright won the last meeting 32-27 in 2023.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"fontSize":"medium"} --> <p class="has-medium-font-size"><strong>NOTABLE</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It's been 16 years since Regent Prep officially launched their football program in 2011. And the Rams have certainly grown into one of the more consistent and successful small school programs in the Tulsa area. They started as an independent team, organically growing their football program from the ground up. In 2016, they officially joined the OSSAA and they were a Class C program for two seasons before moving up to Class B. 2026 will be the eleventh season that Regent Prep has played as an OSSAA-member. They've made the playoffs every year, won at least ten games in almost every year and won at least one playoff game in almost every year. The 2025 season that saw the Rams go out in the first round was the first time that they didn't win at least one playoff game. There have been two state championship game appearances (2018 and 2019) and now they have successfully launched into 11-man football. So the Rams have done just about everything you can do to be a successful program, with the exception of one thing. The state championship.
