Throughout the month of July and now into August, we are publishing well over 100 of the most in-depth team previews that you'll find anywhere to get you completely ready for the 2026 football season. This is something that began for us at PRZ-Oklahoma in 2021 and it continues to get bigger and better every single year. We're looking forward to diving deep into the top teams across the state in every class. From defending champions, to the top contenders and plenty of dark horses and other teams to know, we'll have complete coverage every single day. There will be multiple previews dropping every single day! They came out of the gates swinging but it was a bumpy start, going 2-2 at the start of the year with tough losses to 4A's Cushing and then to Sulphur in the district opener. The Demons won three straight after that, before stumbling in week eight, losing by ten to Lone Grove. They would close out the regular season with comfortable wins to finish 7-3 but they were third in the district. That would put the Demons on the road for the playoffs and perhaps they were written off at that point but they would flip into another gear and go on a run. First, they went on the road and dismantled Plainview 48-14. They followed that up by going to Tulsa and taking down district champion Cascia Hall in the quarterfinals to punch their ticket to the 3A semifinals for the second time in three seasons. But when they got there, they would see district foe Sulphur and the season came to an end one game shy of the program's first ever appearance in the state title game. They lost to the Bulldogs and would finish off the year at 9-4. The Demons came into the season with high expectations, hit some rough waters at various times in the year but they went on a run in the playoffs that definitely stands out to us when we look back on the 2025 season as a whole. Now, they turn the page and the expectations haven't changed for a Perkins-Tryon program that has become one of 3A's best.

2026 OUTLOOK

The Demons come into the 2026 season as a borderline top five team in Class 3A and they bring back the firepower to go on a run and contend for the district title and ultimately the state championship. The offense brings back seven starters and the majority of them are on the offensive line. They will have a new quarterback and they have to replace a 2,000-yard running back from a year ago but with the majority of the offensive line back, that is a really strong starting point for this unit. The Demons are confident the offense won't miss a step with that strong foundational piece on the line of scrimmage returning. Defensively, the Demons could be even better this season with eight starters returning on that side of the ball. And just like with the offense, the strength is going to start on the line of scrimmage and sneak into the back half of the defense as well. The Demons are very confident in this group and the potential they have to make some noise this season. Now, things are going to look a little different as the non-district schedule is a much tougher one than the Demons have faced in recent seasons. It features two teams with a ton of state championship experience recently and a traditional rivalry game against a top five squad. The schedule also features a new district with only one district opponent being a familiar one in the last few seasons. So the challenges in the regular season are obvious but as we learned last year, the Demons have the ability to learn from the regular season and play some of their best football when it matters the most. They expect to be a contender in this district and then go make a run at the Class 3A state championship.

KEY LOSSES TO GRADUATION

Beau Gravitt - Quarterback
Wyatt Atkinson - Running Back (2025 PRZ-Oklahoma Most Improved Player)

PLAYERS TO WATCH

We mentioned earlier in the preview how confident the Demons are when it comes to the returning talent they have on the offensive line. That conversation begins with 2027 offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1832432' first='Caleb' last='Reedy'] and he is one of the senior leaders of this group that will pave the way for those new faces at the skill positions. The Demons did benefit from having a 2,000-yard rusher last season but Reedy and this offensive line was the unit that was getting the job done on the line of scrimmage to open up holes for that dynamic playmaker. With Reedy back, along with a lot of depth on the line, the Demons are very excited about the potential of the offense this season.

The Demons will have several new names emerging this season on the offensive side of the ball at the skill positions. 2028 quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1829569' first='Jerett' last='Gibson'] is one of those guys as he steps into the QB1 role this fall. Gibson is a guy that we got to watch in person back at our May showcase event and he had a really solid day in a relatively deep QB group. The Perkins-Tryon coaches are excited about his potential with the offseason that he's had and the overall potential jump that he can make. Quarterbacks usually take a big step forward going into their junior year in a system. Gibson will be thrown into the deep end with a challenging early schedule but he appears to be ready to swim.

2027 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1838679' first='Raudel' last='De Loera'] comes into this season as one of the unquestioned leaders on this Demon roster. Not only for the defense but for the team as a whole. It looks like he's been living in the weight room all season because he has added a ton of muscle to make him a nightmarish defender at the linebacker position. Last year, he was productive but we expect his numbers to absolutely explode this season. Talking with the Perkins-Tryon coaches this summer, they described DeLoera as the alpha of this team and it will be fun to see what kind of impact he has, not only in the stat department but on a defense that brings nearly everyone back.

If DeLoera is the alpha on this Perkins-Tryon team, we'll just consider 2027 defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1834300' first='Travien' last='Tillis'] the monster of this squad. Tillis led the Demons in tackles last season and was second on the team in tackles for loss. He was also among the team leaders in sacks last season. There is no doubt that Tillis enjoyed a breakout season as a junior and now he's hungry for more going into his senior season. The Demons are also going to use Tillis on the offensive side of the ball as a true power back in short yardage situations. There aren't going to be many scenarios where Tillis is going to get pushed back and that will be a fun component to use on the goal line.

2028 athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1838686' first='Westin' last='Atkinson'] was incredibly productive on the defensive side of the ball last season. He led the team in interceptions and was an absolute beast in the secondary, leading the team in pass break ups as well. Offensively, he was also productive, emerging as the team's leading receiver. He led the team in receptions, yards and touchdowns. This season, it's expected that Atkinson is going to have a major role on the offensive side of the ball. He has the potential to be their most explosive playmaker on offense. But you can't overlook what Atkinson is able to do on the defensive side of the ball. He'll be one of the best two-way players in 3A football this fall.

MORE NAMES TO KNOW

[player_tooltip player_id='1829565' first='Brandon' last='Mason'] - 2029 Fullback/Linebacker
Brodey Waldman - 2028 Linebacker
[player_tooltip player_id='1832439' first='Cody' last='Hargrove'] - 2028 Offensive Lineman
Dax Depperschmidt - 2030 Athlete
Dayton Standage - 2030 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
[player_tooltip player_id='1834298' first='James' last='Bobo'] III - 2028 Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
[player_tooltip player_id='1834295' first='Journee' last='Townsend'] - 2028 Defensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1829557' first='Kane' last='Hudson'] - 2029 Offensive Lineman
[player_tooltip player_id='1832437' first='Tyson' last='Mason'] - 2028 Defensive Lineman

2026 SCHEDULE

Aug. 28th - Washington
- The 2026 season kicks off with a major season opener. The Demons will host 2A-1 powerhouse Washington in week zero. This will be the first time these two teams square off on a football field. The Warriors have been to six consecutive state championship games and they come into this season as one of 2A-1's top teams.
Sept. 11th - Cushing
- After a rare bye week in week one, the Demons host rival Cushing in week two. These two teams started playing in 2019 and it's been a series that has been controlled by the Tigers during that time. They've won the last two meetings, including last year's 38-12 victory and they come into this year as a top five team in 4A.
Sept. 18th - AT Rejoice Christian
- The Demons hit the road for the first time this season when they go to Owasso in week three to wrap up non-district play against Rejoice Christian. This is another non-district clash against a team that is used to contending for state titles. Rejoice won the last two A-1 titles but is now up in 2A-1. But they were hit hard this offseason by graduation and transfers.
Sept. 25th - Locust Grove
- District play opens up in week four with a home game against Locust Grove. Like we mentioned earlier in the preview, the Demons find themselves in a new district heading into the 2026 season. The majority of their district opponents will be new opponents to the schedule. Locust Grove is the first of them here in week four.
Oct. 2nd - AT Bristow
- In week five, the Demons go on the road to square off with Bristow and the Pirates are the one district opponent on the schedule that Perkins-Tryon is familiar with. These two teams have been district opponents in each of the last two seasons. The Demons won both of those meetings, including last year's 49-28 victory.
Oct. 9th - Muldrow
- The second half of the regular season kicks off with a home game against Muldrow in week six. The Bulldogs will be visiting from eastern Oklahoma and it will be the first time these two square off on the gridiron against one another. Muldrow has been a tough opponent over the last six years but they lost a strong senior class.
Oct. 15th - AT Stigler
- The Demons are back on the road and headed east to square off with Stiger on a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven. The Panthers are another new opponent on the Perkins-Tryon schedule heading into this season. Stigler has had a tough few years but we're not that far removed from them being consistent winners in 3A football.
Oct. 23rd - Verdigris
- Week eight brings the beginning of the hardest stretch on the Perkins-Tryon schedule. They'll host Verdigris here and this is a Cardinal team that brings back almost everyone from last year. These two teams have met twice in the last decade, both coming in the playoffs, and both ending with Verdigris winning and moving on.
Oct. 30th - AT Heritage Hall
- The Demons head west for the only time in the regular season when they face perennial powerhouse Heritage Hall in week nine. The challenge is simple here. The Chargers haven't lost a district game in a very long time. The Demons have never beaten Heritage Hall. But a win here would give the Demons a shot at the district title.
Nov. 6th - AT Inola
- The regular season wraps up in week ten with another trip east, this time to face off with Inola. The Longhorns are coming off a surprise run to the 3A quarterfinals last year and they are hungry for more in 2026. These two teams haven't played since they were district opponents in 2008 and 2009. Each team won a game at that time.

NOTABLE

Perkins-Tryon has been a playoff team in Class 3A in 16 consecutive seasons and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. But what has been impressive about this stretch is what they've done in the back half of it. In the first eight years of this playoff streak, they only made it out of the first round one time and they never made it to the semifinals. That hasn't been the case lately. In the last eight seasons, the Demons have made it out of the first round six times and that includes two trips to the semifinals in the last three seasons alone. The Demons have become one of the marquee teams to watch in Class 3A. In a class that has been dominated by the various private schools for the last decade, it's easy to overlook a program that has had sustained success like the Demons have had. But there is no doubt that the Demons belong in that conversation with Class 3A's best. And when they kick off the season this fall, they are hungry to make another deep run and contend for their first state championship.

LAST FIVE SEASONS

2025 - 9-4 - Lost In Class 3A Semifinals
2024 - 8-3 - Lost In Class 3A 1st Round
2023 - 11-2 - Lost In Class 3A Semifinals
2022 - 9-3 - Lost In Class 3A Quarterfinals
2021 - 9-3 - Lost In Class 3A Quarterfinals

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

0 State Championships
