Prep Redzone Louisiana continued its latest rankings update this past week with its first list for the 2029 class — released Wednesday — ahead of the group's upcoming sophomore year.

As part of the update release, we will look at the top 50 prospects in more detail, including some already-familiar faces and names even so early in the development of the cohort.

Here's a look at Nos. 30-21.

No. 30 — [player_tooltip player_id='1988141' first='Carlos' last='Williams'] — 6-2, 220 TE/WR — Riverdale

The Rebels' big tight end has one of the state's more extensive early highlight reels in the class that primarily showcases his tenacity and willingness as a blocker. The height and weight of his tall, long frame — including an 80-inch wingspan — are already verified, and he moves well. He will be certainly be a prospect to watch in the class, particularly as he continues to develop physically and also potentially gets more looks in the passing game.

No. 29 — [player_tooltip player_id='2244027' first='Brandon' last='Girod'] — 5-11, 185 WR — Archbishop Shaw

Spoiler alert: The Eagles have a pair of wide receivers in the initial 2029 rankings. Girod's couple available film clips from freshman year show a quick route-runner who can create separation in a hurry and makes sure-handed catches out away from his body and in stride. His 4.7-second 40-yard dash, 4.6-second shuttle and 37-inch vertical so early in his development are all high level and give him some tools to be a notable player in the class.

No. 28 — Co'hann Davis — 5-10, 190 RB — St. Augustine

The Purple Knights' passing attack drew many of the headlines in the program's run back to its first title appearance since the 1970s, but the production they were able to find on the ground, including the emergence of the promising freshman, despite injuries in the backfield was an underrated factor in that success. Davis is quick and appears to show good vision and toughness as he dances through traffic and keeps his legs driving for additional yardage through contact at the end of his runs.

No. 27 — [player_tooltip player_id='1676267' first='Huckleberry' last='Finley'] — 6-2, 205 QB — Catholic-Baton Rouge

The Bears' young quarterback has been on the radar going back to eighth grade with his all-time great name and a tall, solid build that already stood out in varsity settings when he arrived to campus. We've only been able to see a few behind-the-scenes reps in practice and 7-on-7 settings thus far, but his strong arms and all-around athleticism make him one of the more intriguing young prospects to watch early on.

No. 26 — [player_tooltip player_id='1573728' first='Kyan' last='Batiste'] — 5-10, 170 DB — Catholic-New Iberia

The four-sport athlete is a competitive, instinctive cornerback who plays with patience and good ball skills. He has the athleticism to have reached outdoor track state championships in three different events this spring, and that profile shows as he breaks on throws or when he has to open up some recovery speed and come away with late breakups or acrobatic interceptions.

No. 25 — [player_tooltip player_id='2243898' first='Burton' last='Faneca'] — 6-4, 275 OL — St. Paul's

The Wolves have one of Louisiana's top 2028 offensive linemen, already with an LSU offers, and have another intriguing young blocker in the following class with a name that should be familiar to fans around the state and certainly in purple and gold. The son of Hall-of-Fame guard Alan Faneca only has limited film so far, but already has great measurables and shows promising bend, balance and all-around mobility with his long frame.

No. 24 — [player_tooltip player_id='2244012' first='Ahmaud' last='Tolbert'] — 5-10, 200 LB — Ouachita Parish

The Lions graduated a large, talented and now-legendary senior class this spring and will see opportunities for a slew of younger players to earn playing time this year. The rising sophomore linebacker should be one of note with his stout, thick build and quick feet. On his freshman film, Tolbert zips through traffic, sheds blocks and looks difficult for ball-carriers to escape once he gets a hand on.

No. 23 — [player_tooltip player_id='1910662' first='Deuntra' last='Scheanette'] — 5-10, 175 WR — Neville

Meet: "The Reaper." The Tigers' speedy weapon hit the radar this fall when he earned his first start early in his freshman season and has the chance to be one of the state's top receivers to watch for the years to come. Scheanette, a key member of the school's standout 4x100-meter relay team, has the speed to stretch the field vertically or be dynamic after the catch, and he tracks the ball extremely well and shows the ability to go up and make highlight-reel plays in the air.

No. 22 — [player_tooltip player_id='1597357' first='Brylan' last='Washington'] — 6-1, 190 QB — Huntington

The Shreveport area continues to produce talented quarterbacks at as high a rate as any area of the state, and Washington is one of the next to know. He hit the camp circuits as diligently as any young player in the state this offseason from the PRZLA Stock-Up Showcase in January. Louisiana vs. All Y'all Elite event in February and several college stops and appeared to excel at each stop with his strong, accurate arm; already-solid build at his age; and poised confidence and all-around demeanor for the position.

No. 21 — [player_tooltip player_id='1642932' first='Kendall' last='Joseph Jr.'] — 6-0, 160 DB — John Curtis

One of three John Curtis defensive backs in the initial 2029 rankings, Joseph is a long, lean and instinctive cornerback who is already earning early opportunities in a loaded secondary with his intelligence and coachability to go with his promising athletic profile. We haven't seen a verified 40-yard number yet, but he has consistently tested well in the broad jump, which speaks to his explosiveness.

Prep Redzone Louisiana continued its latest rankings update this past week with its first list for the 2029 class — released Wednesday — ahead of the group's upcoming sophomore year.
