Throughout the month of July and even into August, we are publishing well over 100 of the most in-depth team previews that you'll find anywhere to get you completely ready for the 2026 football season. This is something that began for us at PRZ-Oklahoma in 2021 and it continues to get bigger and better every single year. We're looking forward to diving deep into the top teams across the state in every class. From defending champions, to the top contenders and plenty of dark horses and other teams to know, we'll have complete coverage every single day. There will be multiple previews dropping every single day! In this post, we take a look at the Kiefer Trojans!

RELATED

- Kiefer Video Preview With HC Trent Worley

Kiefer Trojans

Preseason Prep Redzone Ranking: #5 In Class 2A-1

Head Coach: Trent Worley - 8th Season - 58-26 Record At Kiefer

2025 RESULTS (9-3 Record - Lost In Class 2A-1 Quarterfinals)

Aug. 29th - Beat Sperry 46-20
Sept. 5th - Lost To Jones 36-8
Sept. 12th - Beat Vian 30-29
Sept. 26th - Lost To Kingston 28-14
Oct. 3rd - Beat Roland 38-0
Oct. 10th - Beat Prague 55-0
Oct. 16th - Beat Hugo 55-20
Oct. 24th - Beat Bethel 53-0
Oct. 31st - Beat Heavener 54-14
Nov. 7th - Beat Okmulgee 66-8
1st Round - Beat Chandler 20-15
Quarterfinals - Lost To Washington 36-3

2025 Offensive Scoring Average: 36.8 Points Per Game
2025 Defensive Scoring Average: 17.1 Points Per Game

The Kiefer Trojans came into the 2025 football season as a top ten team and they were looking to continue their winning ways. They had won 10 games or more in 2022 and 2023 and they nearly got back to that total in 2025. The Trojans faced without a doubt one of the toughest early season schedules in Class 2A-1. They opened with a win over Sperry but then they played eventual 2A-1 champion Jones and 2A-2 runner up Vian in back to back weeks. They split those two games and finished up non-district play with a 2-1 record. They lost the district opener to Kingston and that put them behind the eight ball to try and make a run at the district championship. Following the loss in week four, the Trojans didn't lose again throughout the rest of the regular season. In fact, they were absolutely dominant and nobody could really come close to challenging them. During their 6-0 stretch in the final six weeks, the “closest” game was a 35-point win over Hugo in week seven. They finished off the regular season with an 8-2 record and finished as runner up in the district. They beat Chandler in a hard-fought first round game before squaring up with Washington in the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season. The result was the same as 2024, as Washington ended Kiefer's season in the quarterfinal round. The Trojans finished the year with a 9-3 record. They improved on offense, defense and in the win-loss column from 2024. Now, as we turn the page and start looking ahead to 2026, the Trojans look to improve again and get back in the state championship hunt in a very competitive 2A-1.

2026 OUTLOOK

Kiefer is once again a top ten team in Class 2A-1 heading into the season but this group is certainly ready to get over the quarterfinal hump and go on a run in 2026. Kiefer comes into this season with one of the more experienced teams in Class 2A-1. They bring back eight starters on the offensive side of the ball, for a unit that averaged over 35 points per game last season. Not only do the starters that return have experience but you have some guys that have multiple years of starting under their belt. They have the potential to be a 40+ point per game team and if they accomplish that, they are going to be in a great spot in 2026. Defensively, the Trojans bring back six starters from last year so there will be a few new faces and some holes they have to fill. But anytime you are coming into a season with the majority of your starters returning, you should feel good about where you are heading into the season. If the new faces can come along in a hurry, meshing with the returning starters and production they bring back, Kiefer should be in a good position this season. Now, things are going to look very different in 2026. The Trojans find themselves in a new district with only one team that they played last season. In fact, half of their overall schedule features teams that they've either never played or haven't played in the last few seasons. But looking at the district as a whole, the Trojans have a good shot to contend for the district championship. On paper, it looks like a race between them and Cascia Hall. Everyone in Class 2A-1, including Kiefer will need to prepare themselves for the new bully on the block as three-time defending champion Lincoln Christian has dropped down to 2A-1. But Kiefer should come into this season with some confidence considering the experience they have back.

KEY LOSSES TO GRADUATION

Carson Cooper - Linebacker
John Watkins - Offensive Lineman

PLAYERS TO WATCH

2027 wide receiver and defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1837236' first='Brody' last='Baxter'] is one of the more important returning players for the Trojans coming into the 2026 season. Because of what he does on both sides of the ball, Baxter is going to be able to impact the game in a variety of ways. First off with his play on offense, Baxter is one of the receivers expected to take another step forward in this Kiefer offense. But you can make the argument that his best qualities come on the defensive side of the ball. Baxter finished last season with over 80 tackles and three interceptions. He has a couple colleges interested in him and he could see that expand with another stellar season this fall.

We cannot wait to see 2027 quarterback and overall athlete [player_tooltip player_id='1343433' first='Cash' last='Worley'] this fall as he is going to be one of the more experienced players in 2A-1. Last season, Worley was the ultimate dual-threat weapon for the Trojans at the quarterback position. He threw for nearly 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also ran for nearly 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. If Kiefer becomes that true state championship contender, it will be because Worley takes his game up another level this season. He's being recruited by D1 programs as a tight end but there's no doubt that he's going to be one of the better overall players in Class 2A-1 when the Trojans take the field this season.

2027 running back and cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1832492' first='Lucas' last='Boyles'] will be similar to Worley where the Trojans will find creative ways to get him as involved as possible. Boyles is listed as a running back, wide receiver and a cornerback. Needless to say, he's a terrific athlete and he was productive last season. He ran for nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns while turning around and finishing his junior season with nearly 50 tackles and three interceptions. Boyles turned out to be a player that Kiefer could rely on and play in various roles on both sides of the ball. It wouldn't surprise us if they even expand that a little bit this season and make him a bigger part of what they do.

2027 running back and cornerback [player_tooltip player_id='1832492' first='Lucas' last='Boyles'] will be similar to Worley where the Trojans will find creative ways to get him as involved as possible. This will be the first meeting between these two programs and get ready for that to be a theme for this season. Anadarko is looking to climb back to the top of the mountain and they look like they could be a team that gives Kiefer a challenge in the opener.
Sept. 11th - Vian
- The home opener is a big one as the Trojans will welcome in Vian to town. Last season, Kiefer got a huge 30-29 win over the Wolverines. That came after they lost 45-14 in the 2024 meeting. Vian is going to look pretty different this season with a first year head coach and a lot of new names on both sides of the ball.
Sept. 18th - Beggs
- Kiefer wraps up non-district action with a home game against Beggs in week three. These two teams were district opponents from 2018-2023 and haven't played since. During that six-year stretch, the Trojans were 2-4 against Beggs. But they won the last two meetings, including a dominant 68-6 victory in 2023.
Sept. 25th - Perry
- Kiefer hosts Perry to open up district play in week four. Perry is coming off a tough season in 2025 but they have had recent success in 2024. This will be the first meeting between these two teams. Kiefer is looking like one of the favorites in this district and will need to avoid looking ahead or they could trip up here in week four.
Oct. 2nd - AT Bethel
- After three straight home games, Kiefer will go on the road to face Bethel in week five. Bethel is the only district opponent that remains on Kiefer's schedule from the last few seasons. And the Trojans have rolled in this series match-up. They shut out Bethel 53-0 last season and also beat them 30-20 during the 2024 meeting.
Oct. 9th - Dewey
- The second half of the regular season begins with a home game against Dewey in week six. The Bulldoggers are the only other team on Kiefer's district slate that they are somewhat familiar with. However, these two were last district opponents in 2018 and 2019. They split the two meetings, with Dewey winning the last one.
Oct. 15th - AT Cascia Hall
- On a Fall Break Thursday night in week seven, Kiefer will head to Tulsa to face Cascia Hall. This is the first meeting between these two programs and on paper, it looks like these are the top two teams in the district. It wouldn't surprise us if the district championship gets decided here in this week seven showdown.
Oct. 23rd - Crooked Oak
- The Trojans will host Crooked Oak in week eight and this will be their last home game in the regular season. Following the showdown with Cascia Hall, the Trojans will look to pick up some momentum with the playoffs right around the corner. Crooked Oak is a program that has struggled mightily over the last decade.
Oct. 30th - AT Blackwell
- Kiefer heads west or in this case, northwest for the first of two straight weeks to wrap up the regular season. They'll face Blackwell in week nine and similar to Crooked Oak, Blackwell is a program that hasn't had a lot of success over the last few seasons. This is an opportunity for Kiefer to continue to pick up steam.
Nov. 6th - AT Chisholm
- The regular season comes to an end with one of Kiefer's longest road trips of the season. They will travel to face Chisholm in week ten and the Longhorns have been a team that can pull off an upset or two over the last several seasons. Chisholm will have a new look with a new quarterback but will provide a challenge.

NOTABLE

As you can see from the 2026 schedule, there is a whole lot of new for the Trojans coming into this season. Kiefer will face five district opponents that they have no recent history with and when you look at the district as a whole, it is absolutely spread out across the state and feels like a “catch all” district. And we've written about this quite a bit this month with various teams and various districts. But the OFBCA tries very hard to find that balance between competitive districts and geographic balance. 6A-1 is the best example of that. You can't put all five Tulsa-area schools in the same district so they are split between the two districts. Kiefer finds themselves in a district that looks competitively balanced compared to some of the other districts in 2A-1 but they'll have some road trips throughout the district slate. And for those teams that they aren't familiar with coming into the season, they'll get very familiar with them by the end of the year.

LAST FIVE SEASONS

2025 - 9-3 - Lost In Class 2A-1 Quarterfinals
2024 - 8-4 - Lost In Class 2A-1 Quarterfinals
2023 - 13-1 - Lost In Class 2A Semifinals
2022 - 11-2 - Lost In Class 2A Quarterfinals
2021 - 7-4 - Lost In Class 2A 1st Round

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

0 State Championships
