2026 Preview: Trinity Collegiate Titans

Trinity Collegiate two-way standout [player_tooltip player_id='1606402' first='Andre' last='Jackson'] had a unique way of describing what the Titans are building under second-year head coach Shawn Fagan.   Coming off a 5-6 season. Jackson believes the foundation has been set and now it's time to start building on that.   “Coach has a saying – it takes six weeks to build a Nissan and six months to build a Rolls Royce. We're building a nicer car,” Jackson said at the recent PRZ Media Day at South Florence. “We trusted the process last year and this year we expect to see better results.”   Fellow two-way standout [player_tooltip player_id='2163605' first='Robert' last='Mack'] almost echoed those sentiments.   “We talk a lot about culture and doing things the right way. We want to build off that and become leaders for everyone on the team,” Mack added.   Those two are going to carry a big load if Trinity Collegiate is going to make noise on the SCISA level. Jackson and Mack are going to be the main ball carriers and play linebacker. They're going to be counted on for production and leadership.   But Fagan believes they have some pieces to put around those two. Hucks Kirven is coming up from the junior varsity to take over the quarterback duties. He saw a few snaps in the varsity level as a freshman, but it should be his show this season.   He will have receivers [player_tooltip player_id='1856861' first='Garrison' last='Copeland'] James Hanna and Kevin Iheanyichukwu to throw too. The Titans will use a short passing game and RPO's to try and keep the chains moving.   Jaylen Clark will be the only senior on the offensive line, and the unit seems to be young but talented. Benson Driggers and Carter Evans and a couple of freshmen in Andrew Grantham and George Taflinger will fill the other roles.         A lot of those same players will play huge roles on defense. The front seven will almost fully be offensive starters as well. Roddy Young and Logan Jordan will be a couple of secondary guys that should play key roles as well.   Parker Phipps is a weapon at kicker and punter.     The schedule is daunting, but Fagan wouldn't want it any other way.   “They know me better and they understand I'm most concerned about culture,” Fagan said. “Scheme is nice and having great athletes is nice but having an undefeated culture prepares kids to go pro in life.”   STARS SET TO SHINE   [player_tooltip player_id='1606402' first='Andre' last='Jackson'] RB/LB 2027 – Jackson has been labeled as the maybe the funniest player on the team but once he gets between the lines, all that disappears. He collected 58 tackles and 18 tackles for loss last season to go along with two sacks. He also averaged over 10 yards per carry in a limited role on offense. He's going to see his role on offense increase this season while still playing linebacker. Jackson is difficult to arm tackle and runs through defenders instead of around them.   Jaylen Clark DL/OL, 2027 (pictured) – Clark has been described as quiet but carrying a big pop on both sides of the ball. He lets his pads make the noise instead of words. He's aggressive and physical at the point of attack. Jackson is not going to be the biggest lineman by any stretch of the imagination but he's quick and smooth which allows him to move bigger defenders. He's relentless in pursuit and makes a lot of plays at or near the line of scrimmage.   Carter Evans OL/DL, 2028 – Evans is one of the kids that is very quiet and just goes about his business without much fanfare. He didn't get a lot of recognition but still came to work every day and got better. He played in six games with nine tackles and two tackles for loss. Evans will start on both sides of the ball. He's powerful and is one of the kids that plays until the whistle blows.   Logan Jordan DB, 2027 – Jordan was only able to play in three games, but he showed flashes during that small sample size. He had eight tackles, three tackles for loss and two interceptions. If you place those numbers over the course of a full season, Jordan would be one of the most effective players on the defense. He comes downhill quickly. His ability to read and react is what sets him apart.   FILM REVIEW   [player_tooltip player_id='2163605' first='Robert' last='Mack'] RB/LB, 2027 – There is a theme with the running backs and that's they're going to split time but also see the field on defense at linebacker. Mack fits right into the role. He's speedy and can play anywhere on the field. He ran for a team best 704 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season. He also lined up in the slot and caught nine passes for two scores. He's a very good blocker as well. Mack added 54 tackles and 15 tackles for loss to show his versatility.    BIGGEST LOSSES   Davidson Lynch QB – Lynch was an All-Region selection after throwing for 2,047 yards and 19 touchdowns with just three interceptions during the regular season. He added 150 yards and four rushing scores as well. He had a big arm and was a great leader.   Walker Willcox LB – Willcox but up eye-popping numbers last season with 166 tackles and 36 tackles for loss in 10 regular season games. He quarterbacked the defense from the middle but covered guys all over the field.     UP-AND-COMING POTENTIAL   Kevin Iheanyichukwu CB/WR, 2029 – The offense lost a playmaker that accounted for over 900 yards receiving and over 50 catches and Iheanyichukwu is slotted to fill some of that void. He's athletic and is going to be one of the key receivers. He's also going to play in the secondary with the expectation to make a splash in his first varsity season.   Hucks Kirven QB, 2029 – Kirven mainly played junior varsity last year but was able to get some varsity snaps. He doesn't have the strangest arm for the deep ball, but his short and intermediate passes are accurate and on the mark. He can pull it down and run or team it on an RPO and attack the edges. He makes good decisions but must fill the shoes of a 2,000-yard passer.      We only have stats through the regular season last year and Copeland was the leading receiver with 921 yards on 42 catches with 11 touchdowns. He averaged over 22 yards per reception. He also added 108 yards rushing, 29 tackles, three tackles for loss and two interceptions.   Copeland is 5-foot-10 and 145 pounds but is fearless and doesn't mind catching passes in traffic. The offense might center around running the ball more, but Copeland is a viable option when they do put it in the air.
