As the offseason has progressed, the older guys have taken it upon themselves to bring the younger guys along, and seeing their growth has been fun for senior star defensive linemen and Rutgers commit [player_tooltip player_id='1036731' first='Dennis' last='Glenn'] to see.

“Taking everything else away, we get to play football at the end of the day. If I was a leader, if I wasn't. If I was on offense (or) special teams, just being able to suit and go out there but understanding the role that I have is even more exciting, because I get to see the success of my peers and my guys that are a little bit younger. And that's always exciting knowing you had a hand in that and just seeing their success and seeing them grow,” Glenn told us at last week's Prep Redzone Media Day at Fountain Inn.

[player_tooltip player_id='1819429' first='Imri' last='Logan'] (pictured) will get his opportunity to take the reins full-time after splitting time a bit for the Bulldogs in 2025. He threw for 1206 yards and nine touchdowns, while also showcasing his dual-threat capabilities, rushing for 290 yards on 60 attempts. Some of the things he has focused on during the offseason is staying in the pocket to find open receivers and being more of a vocal leader.

“As the season went on last year, as I played quarterback more and more, my connection got better with most of the guys," Logan said. "We've got Deion (Suber) returning and then [player_tooltip player_id='1665369' first='Djay' last='Leak'] – he's coming back. My connection is a lot better with everyone."

Logan will be a part of an offensive unit that brings back six starters, including [player_tooltip player_id='1672759' first='Ejayy' last='George'] on the offensive line and [player_tooltip player_id='1819841' first='Kyron' last='Tobler'] at running back. [player_tooltip player_id='1819096' first='Kennedy' last='Means'] is the projected starter at tight end, while [player_tooltip player_id='1819847' first='Collin' last='Johnson'] is projected to start at right guard and [player_tooltip player_id='1822366' first='Jake' last='Henderson'] at right guard.

On defense, six starters return there as well. [player_tooltip player_id='1819849' first='Champion' last='Floyd'] and Kris Anderson are expected to anchor things at the defensive tackle spot. [player_tooltip player_id='1822369' first='Jamarcus' last='Means'] will hold down the safety spot and currently has an offer from Anderson University. Means finished with 34 total tackles in 2025. [player_tooltip player_id='1822378' first='Will' last='Gibeck'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1821923' first='CJ' last='Birk'] were forces at linebacker in 2025. [player_tooltip player_id='1819851' first='Christian' last='McMurray'] is one of the projected starters at corner.

As the 2026 opener on the road against Southside Christian approaches on August 26, Bulldogs head coach Matt Reel and his staff are seeking consistency from their group, especially with the challenges of the new region II-5A with Northwestern, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Dorman and Spartanburg.

“I think that's the biggest word offensively and defensively this summer is, how consistent can we play? Because we don't play bad people. There's no weeks off,” Reel said.

STARS SET TO SHINE

[player_tooltip player_id='1036731' first='Dennis' last='Glenn'] DL, 2027 – Glenn is the unquestioned leader of the Bulldogs' defense and will be one of the top leaders for the team in 2026. He committed to Rutgers earlier this spring after a 2025 season that saw him register 40 total tackles and 21, yes, 21 tackles for a loss. He is tough to deal with from his line spot and has good size on him.

Glenn on his commitment to Rutgers: “I think it's a great family atmosphere. They're losing some guys on the inside so I'll have a chance to play early. And New Jersey is a lot different than Boiling Springs, so it will be a change of pace. And I think that everybody should have the chance to experience something different and just talking to Coach (Greg) Schiano and Coach Dot (Rutgers defensive line coach Dennis Dottin Carter), that felt like that's where I'm supposed to be at.”

[player_tooltip player_id='1466577' first='Deion' last='Suber'] WR, 2027 – Suber will be one of the leaders in the receiver room in 2026, as he recorded 9 catches for 145 yards and one touchdown in 2025. Expect his numbers to take a jump with his ability to go deep and beat one-on-one coverage. While he's had his ups and downs during the summer, he told us that he understands the game more and that should pay dividends in 2026..

[player_tooltip player_id='1665369' first='Djay' last='Leak'] ATH, 2027 – Leak is a dynamic two-way player who is athletic and can read plays on an opposing quarterback. He is also a playmaker on special teams and changes the game with his speed. Reel says they can get him involved in the quick passing game, such as screens.

Ta'mi'jay Brown LB, 2027 – Brown had an active year at linebacker for the Bulldogs in 2025, finishing the year with 61 total tackles and 11 tackles for a loss. He can get after the ball carrier on blitzes and keeps his eyes in the right place in pass coverage. He should have a big impact in the middle of the defense in 2026.

FILM REVIEW

[player_tooltip player_id='1819842' first='Tyvion' last='Hall'] DB, 2027 – Hall is a ball hawk from his safety position. He can high point the ball and has good eye discipline to make plays on the ball when they present themselves. He recorded four interceptions in 2025. He also showed an ability to read and recognize routes in 2025 and dislodge the ball before the receiver could make a play on it. If that's not enough, he nearly snuffed out a screen pass for a pick six. He currently holds an offer from Anderson University.

BIGGEST LOSSES

Tresean Suber WR – Suber was a consistent threat in the passing game for the Bulldogs, as he finished as the team's leading receiver in 2025 with 30 receptions for 534 yards and three touchdowns.

TJ Collins LB – Collins was all over the football for the Bulldogs' defense and finished as the team's leading tackler with 91 total tackles and nine tackles for a loss.

UP-AND-COMING POTENTIAL

Jeremiah Calhoun DB, 2028 – Calhoun ran track for the Bulldogs in 2025 and brings a level of athleticism that should be beneficial for the Bulldogs' secondary in 2026.

Derrick Nichols DL, 2029 – Nichols is impressive from his end position and made a name for himself as a freshman. He has a motor that is always running and can affect the throws from a quarterback. He could have a chance to work his way into the rotation on Friday nights if the opportunity presents itself.

Reel told us that Jones is in a position to be a starting receiver for the Bulldogs in 2026 after having a great summer. He said he is mentally above what you would see from a typical freshman or sophomore and the staff has been impressed with what they've seen.
