Get 30% off your first billing cycle with code: howe30 in the coupon code area

Colleges have done well in mining Iowa's 2027 recruiting class. Twelve different guys have verbally committed to Power 4 programs. Quite a few others have pledged to FBS and FCS schools.

Even with those sizable numbers, a lot of talent from the state for the cycle remains in the board. Here's a closer look at a group of them:

[player_tooltip player_id='1616418' first='Brady' last='Kies'], LB/S, Cedar Falls

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: Kies participated in South Dakota State's mega camp this past weekend. Hopefully he caught the attention of the college coaches in attendance because he's deserving of more. Other than that event and visiting Northern Iowa for a game at the end of November, his recruitment has been puzzlingly quiet.

His film speaks for itself as did his production as a Cedar Falls junior last season. He piled up 62.0 total tackles with 48 of those stops being of the solo variety. He also came up with 7.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, two interceptions, a pair of forced fumbles and three blocked kicks.

Kies could wind up at safety or linebacker depending on the college scheme. He would be a special teams' asset early in his career at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1617646' first='Izzah' last='Grandon'], DE/OLB, Cedar Falls

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: We've got another Cedar Falls defender on our rundown. That shouldn't be surprising when you consider the program's success in winning games and producing college prospects. Sometimes, they do that so well that guys get overlooked. Like Kies, that's happening with Grandon.

The film doesn't lie nor does his on-field production. He racked up 63.5 tackles (46 solo, 21.5 TFL) and 9.0 sacks. He's an excellent athlete with agility and a projectable frame that provides excellent upside. Defensive end or outside linebacker would work positionally depending on scheme.

College interest is lagging despite his potential and pedigree. South Dakota State, St. Thomas, Upper Iowa and the University of Jamestown have been involved.

[player_tooltip player_id='1198380' first='Ian' last='Lofflin'], RB/ATH, Sioux City North

Announced offers: None.

The Situation: The theme of this writeup is highlighting prospects with talent deserving of more interest on the recruiting trail. That's certainly the case with Lofflin. His film reveals a running back with a well-rounded skill set. It's worthy of developing at that position with the added bonus that his talents could work at other positions. Contributions on special teams also can be enjoyed.

Lofflin has received interest from programs on the next level. He visited Dakota Wesleyan for a game in November, hit up Dordt, Coe and Briar Cliff this spring, and is expected to be at Luther next month.

[player_tooltip player_id='1691198' first='Tanner' last='Ruby'], DE/TE, Ankeny

Announced offers: Drake, Missouri Western State, Grand View, Northwestern College.

The Situation: Ruby holds excellent opportunities to play college football. That said, it's surprising more schools haven't looked his way. He's a big, athletic prospect with a chance to develop into much more on the next level, as we can witness watching his 11th-grade film.

Ruby posted 49.0 tackles, 40 of which were of the solo variety, as a junior in 2025. He had 4.0 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery as a junior in a program known for developing college prospects. If he remains undecided on a college, a likely step forward this fall could attract more attention from the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197495' first='Davis' last='Tokheim'], ATH, Des Moines Christian

Announced offers: Grand View, Northwestern College.

The Situation: An interesting prospect on the gridiron, Tokheim brings unique athleticism to it. He's a two-time All-American and national champion in the decathlon. He rushed for 859 Yards and 10 touchdowns on 154 carries, produced a pair of Pick-6s on defense and had 433 yards on 20 returns last year. His traits make him a prospect on offense and on defense. The special teams' talent just adds to what should be an attraction addition for colleges.

In addition to offers from Grand View and Northwestern College, Tokheim has camped with Iowa State and Drake this spring. When you consider the speed that led to him qualifying in three state track meet events, the interest level in him should be greater.
