Texas Top 22 Showcase: Elite Performers Take Center Stage

The state of Texas is a hub for top talent and the Lone Star state continues to produce next level players. The Texas Top 22 Showcase provides an opportunity for prospects to get elite coaching, while gaining exposure. For second year in a row, several under the radar prospects turned in MVP performances, while several top recruits showed why they will emerge as highly touted players in their classes heading into the fall season. We spotlight the MVPs and standouts who left a lasting impression at the Texas Top 22 Showcase.    Ingram came into the weekend as one of the most sought after prospects in attendance at the Texas Top 22 Showcase and he showed why the entire day. He moved well in the drills and the individual position periods of the camp, showing fluid hips and the ability to shift his weight easily. He is quick off the ball, he has an explosive first step and his ability to get open early in his routes allowed him to win multiple reps in the 1v1 drills and the 7v7 competition. Ingram has a large catch radius, combined with his 6-foot-4 frame that enables him to win on the 50/50 balls and he made several highlight reel grabs in tight coverage.   Ingram made the most of his opportunities during his freshman season at Duncanville, earning playing time, while helping the Panthers make a run to a 6A D-I championship appearance. You can expect him to get more touches this season as he heads into his sophomore season as one of the top class of 2029 prospects in the state. He left no doubt that he is a playmaker. Ingram had an MVP performance at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. Ingram had a hot month of May on the recruiting trail, picking up offers from Baylor, Vanderbilt, Arizona State and North Carolina to name a few.     Smith has all the tools that college coaches covet at the next level. He can spray the route tree with pinpoint accuracy, he has clean mechanics and his ability to push the ball outside the numbers on a rope was on full display at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. Smith has a strong arm, he engages his hips to gain extra torque on his throws that enables him to drive the football into tight coverage windows for completions. Throughout the camp, Smith was deadly accurate, he showed good touch on his deep ball and his ability to throw receivers open allowed him to win consistently in the 1v1 portion and the 7v7 competition. Smith took home MVP honors for the quarterbacks.   Smith picked up his first offer from Peru State this offseason. Colleges need to get eyes on him. He is one the hidden gems in the 2027 class and heads into the 2026 season as one of the more intriguing prospects in the DFW area.     Davis has seen his buzz continue to rise on the recruiting trail this offseason and the rising junior to be had a stellar performance at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. His ability to make every throw on the route tree, combined with an athletic 6-foot-4 frame make him an attractive prospect. Davis was selected as one the top performers. His accuracy was on point, he delivered throws on time and in rhythm during the 1v1s and 7v7 periods. His throwing motion is compact, he has clean footwork and his quick release allows him to fit the football into tight coverage windows consistently for completions. Davis sees the field well and his ability to throw with anticipation enables him to aid in his receivers winning their matchups routinely.   Davis is making a steady climb this offseason on the recruiting trail, picking up an offer from Syracuse in May. He will be a prospect to keep a close watch on this fall.     Harris Jr. can spit it. He has a strong arm with the ability to make throws into small coverage windows for completions. His footwork is deliberate, he has calm feet in the pocket and he made plays in the 7v7 period with a rush in his face at all levels of the field. Harris Jr. has a quick trigger, he goes through his progression quickly and this allowed him to throw his targets open often. He has a calm demeanor, he doesn't get rattled and his ability to keep his eyes downfield makes him a passer who can pick defenses apart. Harris Jr. is a prospect to closely monitor heading into his junior season.     McElroy has the arm talent to make every the on the route tree with pinpoint accuracy. He excelled in the 1v1s and the 7v7 drills during the showcase, making tight window throws and delivering accurate passes in the rhythm. McElroy is athletic with ability to make plays outside the pocket. He has a polished throwing motion with clean mechanics that allow him to get the ball out quickly with power behind his throws.   Watching his fall tape from 2025, he displays his ability to be a dual threat, showing the skill set to evade the rush and be a threat in the running game with his legs. McElroy had 22 touchdown pass combined with 546 yards rushing and 8 rushing touchdowns. He is competing for the starting job at Richardson heading into the fall, looking to take the Eagles on a deep playoff run in 2026.     Johnson has elite quickness combined with the ability to bend at the hip exceptionally that makes him a handful in the trenches. He uses his hands well at the point of attack to shed blockers and he has the arm length to keep his opponents from getting in his chest at initial engagement. Johnson moves well in space, showing his nimble feet and agility during the footwork drills. His explosive get off at the snap and closing speed off the edge enabled him to win reps consistently in the 1v1s against the offensive line.   Johnson has the versatility to make plays at linebacker. He won reps in the pass protection portion of the camp versus the running backs. He uses a stiff punch at engagement combined with a power rush with several moves to free himself to make plays in the backfield. Johnson is a competitive swimmer to go along with his elite skills on the football field. He is senior defender in the DFW area that should get more looks from schools at the next level.     Bandy flashed as one of the top players at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. He has an extended reach with a lean, athletic frame that he uses to his advantage in close quarters. Bandy has nimble feet and he is agile with excellent lateral quickness. When he lined up in the trenches, he showed quickness and burst off of the line at the snap during the 1v1s.   Bandy took reps as a tight end, displaying the ability to get open and uses his large catch radius to make several big catches in the red zone 1v1s. He has a versatile skill set and is a young prospect to keep a close watch on as his game matures.     Womack has a swiss army knife type of skill set, showing the ability to line up at multiple positions and make plays. As a running back, he flashed during the position drills, displaying his superb quickness with the ability to make defenders miss in the open field.   Womack took reps at receiver and linebacker as well, showing strong hands, clean route running and he tracks the ball well in flight. In the pass protection 1v1s versus the linebackers, he showed sound technique taking on defenders and his ability to shift his weight quickly allowed him to win multiple reps. He took home MVP honors at the running back position, after having a strong performance over the weekend.     Moore has a stout compact build, he has a powerful lower half and he has a quick first step at the snap. During the individual position drills, he showed clean footwork, the ability to shift his weight easily and violent hands at engagement. Moore plays with excellent leverage, which enabled him to win reps during the 1v1s against the offensive line.     McCoy Jr. is one the fastest rising class of 2029 playmakers in the state heading into his sophomore season. He has elite quickness, he gets in and out his break smoothly and this allowed him to win multiple reps against defenders during the 1v1 matchups. He has strong hands, he tracks the ball well in flight and he has the speed to stretch the field.   On film, McCoy Jr. excels at yards after the catch and he had a strong spring at Desoto this offseason. He is emerging as a playmaker who will be prominent in the Eagles offense this fall.   He was selected as one the top performers at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. McCoy Jr. has seen his profile rise on the recruiting trail this offseason, with offers coming in from Colorado State, Missouri State, Toledo, Illinois, Kentucky, Houston and Purdue to name a few.     Villegas has quick feet with good balance, he has the ability to make cuts without making false steps and he flashed as one of the top running backs at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. He has strong hands combined with ability to run crisp routes out of the backfield, which allowed him to win multiple reps against the linebackers in the 7v7 and 1v1 matchups. Villegas has been selected as a top performer a several camps this spring, including the Texas Top 22 Showcase and he had a productive spring during practices at Guyer. He is a prospect to monitor in season this fall.     Willis is a big body target with strong hands, he runs clean routes and he showed the ability to get open consistently at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. He was able to beat press coverage routinely, using his strength and extended reach to create separation early in his routes. Willis attacks the ball at the catch point and he didn't drop passes when targeted. He had an impressive showing and should be a contributor in the Desoto Eagles offense this season.     Thompson has good instincts, he has a nose for the football and he showed good coverage skills during the 1v1 passing matchups versus the running backs. He has exceptional lateral quickness, he has the speed to chase down plays and he was able to get his hands on several pass deflections. Thompson was consistent throughout the entire showcase, he excelled in the pass protection 1v1s, displaying the ability to shock, shed and use his hands effectively to win his matchups. Heading into his junior season, he is name to know in the Fort Worth area.     Holmes has a long, lean, athletic frame, he transitions into his backpedal smoothly and he has fluid hips that enable him the turn, run and stay engaged with receivers downfield. Elijah has the frame that college coaches covet at the next level, he has an extended reach and he gets hands on receivers early at engagement to alter their routes. He was impressive in the individual position drills, showing clean footwork and the ability to stay balanced, not wasting steps.   During the 7v7 period and 1v1s, he was sticky in coverage, using his length well in close quarters to get his hands on the ball for multiple interceptions and pass defections. He took MVP honors at the defensive back position. Holmes has the potential to be make waves on Friday nights this fall and should began to put himself on recruiting boards.     Swift is a tough cover at the receiver position, he has the quickness and wiggle to create separation early in his routes. He is explosive in and out of his breaks, Swift plays fast but under control. Swift is a sure handed target with strong hands, he attacks the ball the catch point with controlled aggression and he consistently made clutch grabs regardless of the coverage all camp long. He was selected as top performer at the Texas Top 22 Showcase. He had a productive junior season, totaling 632 all-purpose yards and 3 touchdowns. Swift is a name to know at Legacy Sports Science heading into his senior season.     Williams has a stout build, he is a big body target with strong hands who attacks the football aggressive when he is targeted. He ran clean routes during the routes on air drills and that enabled him to transition smoothly to the 1v1s and win reps. Williams has the strength to fight off defensive backs in press coverage and he uses his length in close quarters to create separation He was a terror for his opponents in the red zone matchup against defenders. He has the skill set that should make him a reliable target on Friday nights this fall.
