He is a very high IQ kid that can bait bad throws over the middle or into the flats for negative plays and takes good angles in the open field with closing speed and brings a nice punch at the point of attack. He does a nice job staying patient behind his blocks before hitting his third level gear and can run tough inside or cut it outside the tackles when needed and has the speed to gain the corner. The Twin Falls product should be atop the rushing rankings this fall across Idaho and is going to be another nice late steal for a D3+ college program and has been severely under-recruited up to this point. He is a high motor kid that can pursue backside, reads blocks well and can transition from run to pass quickly with proper hands, natural bend around the corner and is always in pursuit to the ball. Petersen has a leaner frame but can hold more weight and is a plus athlete for his size and is seemingly comfortable in the open field and offers nice position versatility. He shows he can run tough inside the tackles, has contact balance and leg drive through contact and is tough to take down in one on one situations with some short area wiggle and twitch to make tacklers miss. He shows he can expand out wide, has strong hands in traffic and can quickly turn upfield and runs precise routes while able to stretch the field and is a mismatch on linebackers and safeties.
