Northwest Showcase: Defensive line standouts and stars

This month's Northwest Showcase put a bright spotlight on the West region's top players in the trenches.   Here's a look at the camp's standouts:   [player_tooltip player_id='937240' first='Isaiah' last='Ormond'], Tualatin (2027) —  It's possible no player helped their stock more from the Northwest Showcase than Ormond.    The 6-foot-3, 300-pound interior defensive lineman, who carries a lot of weight in his lower half, absolutely dominated the competition and simply had a different motor than nearly every other player at the camp.   Ormond, who recently transferred to Tualatin, suddenly looks like one of the best defensive line prospects in the entire state.   Ormond now holds offers from Eastern Washington and Portland State, and is gaining interest from Group of Six schools.   His stock has never been hotter.    [player_tooltip player_id='2131782' first='Cooper' last='Chan'], Jesuit (2029) — After a solid performance at the Prep Redzone Exposure Series it was good to see the young Jesuit lineman getting some important developmental reps in a camp setting.   Chan has a chance to develop into a key piece for the Crusaders.   [player_tooltip player_id='1614794' first='Kolby' last='Wofford'], Tualatin (2028) — Tualatin dominated the Northwest Showcase, picking up MVPs with running back [player_tooltip player_id='937241' first='Cole' last='Hachmeister'] and Ormond.   But Wofford had a great day as well.    The 6-foot-2, 320-pound interior lineman moved from Dayton to Tualatin and looks like he'll pair with Ormond for the best defensive tackle duo in the entire state.   He was a really tough 1-on-1 match-up all day.    [player_tooltip player_id='2227961' first='Leni' last='Siale'], FSP Academy (2031) — The younger Siale is going to be a superstar down the road.    He'll be a double-digit offer guy with potential to be a major national recruit.   [player_tooltip player_id='1691687' first='Colten' last='Nibler'], Skyview (2027) —  Nibler grew praise for his “high motor” and “relentless approach” during the camp.   The first-team all-league defensive lineman looked every bit of that at The Northwest Showcase and was a guy I'll be interested to see when it comes to his senior film.    [player_tooltip player_id='2088956' first='Luke' last='Winningham'], Canby (2027) — Winningham had an excellent day with multiple quality reps.   He quickly picked up a scholarship offer from Western Oregon.    Winningham backed up that performance at Portland State's camp days later with an MVP performance.    The 6-foot-5, 250-pound two-way lineman is an intriguing sleeper in the state of Oregon.   He's be excellent this offseason.    [player_tooltip player_id='1659062' first='Parker' last='Stewart'], Kelso (2027) — Stewart had a very solid day at The Northwest Showcase and showed why he's got FBS and FCS programs looking at him.   If he doesn't go D-1, he'll be a small school steal for whoever gets him.    [player_tooltip player_id='1691682' first='Jack' last='Fournier'], Camas (2027) — Fournier had an absolutely stellar day at the Western Oregon camp and picked up an offer from the host school.    Outside of Ormond, there may have not been a “louder” performance than Fournier.   He was absolutely, undeniably exceptional.    Maxwell Bridges, Glacier Peak (2027) — His 18-sack junior season should've been a dead giveaway that Bridges was going to be a brutal 1-on-1 match-up in a camp setting.   He was unstoppable on the edge and gave offensive linemen fits throughout his session.   I found myself saying, “That kid is really sound. I bet he's dominant on Fridays.”   I checked the stats.   Yup!    The eye test matched the performance .   Maxim Matijacic, Lake Oswego (2028) — Lake Oswego's defensive line is led by TRL DL Player of the Year [player_tooltip player_id='1246545' first='Josh' last='Christensen'], but Matijacic had a solid day at camp and earned praise from coaches for a handful of quality reps.   [player_tooltip player_id='2105987' first='Mark' last='Bailey'], Silverton (2028) — One of the most talented small school players in Oregon, Bailey is a freakish defensive lineman who is among the best players at his level in the entire state.   He's going to have a monster junior season.
