Eye-catchers from LSU’s mini 7v7 indoor tournament

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Storms hitting the area this past weekend forced LSU's initially scheduled annual 7-on-7 tournament to be scaled down to a select six-team invitational in the program's indoor facility.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>But even with a smaller field or participants, the group was not lacking for talent and even star-power.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Evangel Christian, Calvary Baptist and University Lab represented the home state against a field of three out-of-state competitors.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>And each program had notable eye-catchers throughout the course of the day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='261907' first='Peyton' last='Houston'] — 6-0, 195 QB — Evangel Christian (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The LSU-committed quarterback rose to the occasion to lead his Eagles to an undefeated day and championship on his future college practice field. Simply put, Houston carved his way up and down the field to a myriad of weapons around him including rising seniors <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1349539' first='Jayden' last='Hicks']</strong>, <strong>Kionte Mims II</strong> and <strong>Tikelon High</strong> to name a few. Whether dropped back or moving the pocket on rollouts either direction, Houston's prowess in scanning and processing the field and rifling well-placed throws that help keep his targets in stride or turn them back away from approaching safeties shone on the day.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Seth Collins — 6-1, 175 DB — Evangel Christian (2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For Houston's top-flight performance on offense, Collins provided the Eagles the same on the other side of the ball with a few interceptions on the day ranging from an early, tone-setting takeaway to a pair in the title game, including the tenacious victory-sealer in the final seconds on which he made up ground on a deep throw over his head, met the receiver at the ball and snatched it away on their way to the turf. Collins looks to be one of the most instinctive defensive backs in the rising junior class and should be in the mix for a high-ranking debut in the next round of updates. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='934564' first='Braylun' last='Huglon'] — 5-10, 175 WR/ATH — Calvary Baptist (2027)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Evangel Christian's crosstown rival joined in the event's title game, and the explosiveness downfield of the Cavaliers' newly Colorado State-committed star wide receiver was among the brightest spots to help lead the charge. Huglon consistently worked his way open across the field or on over-the-top deep shots throughout the day and also flashed his ability to go up of highlight-reel leaping and twisting receptions through tighter windows between defenders. The offense is still early in its process of gelling together after many notable graduations and the arrival of its key pieces from Mississippi, but Kiffin and Smith had moments that showed why they are slated to be among the highest ranked prospects at their respective positions in the next round of rankings updates.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1802167' first='Kameron' last='Grisby'] — 6-3, 185 DB/WR — University Lab (2028)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Cubs' highest-ranked returning prospect looked the part with his play on both sides of the ball — in addition to seemingly looking taller every time we get the chance to see him live. Grisby is a long, rangy cornerback who runs well enough that LSU secondary coach Corey Raymond recently made him one of the program's first in-state 2028 offers. And in addition to his performance blanketing opposing wide receivers, Grisby was also among the top targets for Kiffin, providing the new quarterback a big target capable for stretching the field across from Smith. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
